Show Synopsis
Always, Patsy Cline, a musical based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961. The musical play, complete with down-home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy’s unforgettable hits such as “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight”
Character Breakdown
Patsy Cline: Lead, Female, 24-35 Dynamic and passionate actress who can embody Patsy Cline in voice and spirit; ability to mimic her unique vocal sound is imperative. casting non-union; contralto.
Louise Seger: Lead, Female, 40-55 Strong storyteller with a big heart. Devoted fan of Patsy Cline who establishes a friendship with her through letter correspondence and finally meets her; a typical strong-willed, funny Texan woman; she has a great deal of interaction with the audience as she relates the relationship she develops with Patsy; strong comedic sense needed for this role.
What To Prepare
Auditioners should complete the digital audition form available at the WCP website, and bring a headshot and resume, if not already submitted via the website audition link. Auditioners are asked to sing 16- 32 bars of a song that best shows off their voice. A Bluetooth speaker is available to play your accompaniment track. Auditioners should be prepared with a short monologue if requested.
Early video auditions - which must be submitted prior to Oct 26th – may be submitted via the link on the WCP website and can substitute for appearing at the regular auditions. The video should include a song showing off your voice and range, a short monologue. The video should be uploaded with a headshot and resume (if available). However, if chosen from a video audition, candidates will be required to appear in person at the callbacks on Oct. 28th.
WCP seeks to include persons of every race, color, culture, age, gender, creed, physical disability, and sexual orientation. Character ages are not set in stone and all roles are open to all ethnicities unless otherwise stated. Actors should consider roles if they feel they can represent the characters and age range listed.
