CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
Annual ICJA Research Conference
Wednesday, August 20, 2025 through
Friday, August 22, 2025.
The International Community Justice Association (ICJA) invites you to submit
a workshop proposal for the 2025 Annual Research Conference, titled:
Uniting for Change:
Compassion, Connection & Collaboration
A Call for Presentations:
Pre-Conference Workshops:
A series of pre-conference workshops have been commissioned for Wednesday, August 20th. This form is specifically for the concurrent workshop presentations during the conference.
An Invitation:
Throughout the conference, there will be three sessions with five concurrent workshops. You are invited to submit an abstract for a concurrent conference workshop. Embracing an evidence-informed lens, we encourage submissions that reflect the conference theme - Uniting for Change: Connection, Compassion & Collaboration. Special consideration will be given to submissions that demonstrate the importance of engaging across disciplines, systems, communities, and impacted groups to enhance outcomes.
Topics of Interest:
- Exploring innovative and evidence-based strategies that break down structural barriers and build and sustain re-entry services such as:
- Safe housing alternatives.
- Behavioral health programs.
- Education and employment services.
- Addressing the needs of special populations in reentry (elderly, women & families, LGBTQ+ individuals, juveniles, differently abled, sex offenders, etc.).
- Focusing on policy, research, and practices informed and delivered by people with lived experience.
- Engaging families and communities to support effective reentry.
- Increasing awareness of evidence-based and trauma-informed responses (e.g., using strength-based interventions).
- Identifying innovative, promising, and effective programs and services that build connections and support positive outcomes.
- Creating opportunities for individuals and organizations to identify metrics and use research to inform the development and use of effective policies and practices.
- Equipping attendees with tools and strategies to navigate challenges and thrive in changing environments.
- Exploring international perspectives on reentry.
Workshops will be 90 minutes long (plan for 75 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes of Q/A). The format may be a lecture, panel presentation, or interactive. All sessions must include time for questions and answers and will be mediated.
General Information
This year’s conference will be held in-person, Thursday, August 20, 2025 and Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. We will offer a special speaker rate but encourage all speakers to attend the conference in full.
Audience
Attendance for the conference is estimated around 300 community correctional agency leaders, people with lived experience, correctional professionals, community groups, behavioral health practictioners, employment services professionals, stakeholders, housing professionals, court representations, researchers, advocates, government representatives, and vendors.
Presenters and Attendees
Presenters and attendees are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation costs.
Submitting Proposals
Please complete the submission form in its entirety including:
- Title of presentation.
- Brief professional biography for any presenting authors.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) is required for each presenter for accreditation purposes.
- Abstract clearly outlining the scope of the workshop (minimum of 400 words). Submitting author will be asked to attach the abstract a separate document in the portal.
- Technical requirements for your presentation.
- Other special requirements must be clearly specified.
- All attached documents MUST include presentation title and presenter name. Those that do not include them will not considered.
Following all submissions, the conference committee will evaluate and select workshop submissions for final approval.
Submissions are due by April 18, 2025.
