Dr. Weatherhead will provide an in-depth review of the current education curriculum offered by the National School of Tropical Medicine, Additionally, she will discuss the strategic plans and future directions aimed at expanding our outreach on a global scale.
Bio
Dr. Weatherhead is a Med-Peds Infectious Disease physician-scientist at BCM and TCH specializing in parasitology. She is an associate professor in medicine and pediatrics and is the assistant dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine and oversees all the educational programs available through NSTTM. She is also the director the adult and pediatric ID fellowship Tropical Medicine and Global Health Infectious Disease Tracks. Clinically she sees patients in the adult tropical medicine clinic and ben taub inpatient ID service in Harris Health System and the pediatric tropical medicine clinic at TCH. Her basic science and translational research lab focuses on the impact of parasitic infection on the host immune system and the development of end-organ disease.
