BATTERIES: By far the most common cause of problems with clocks which use silent sweep quartz movements is poor battery choice.
Whilst you can use standard ALKALINE batteries in your clock, they deliver higher currents which are not ideal for low power-drain devices such as clocks.
The best choice of battery for your clock is a CARBON ZINC (otherwise known as HEAVY DUTY) battery. Whilst they do not last as long as ALKALINE batteries, CARBON ZINC batteries have a lower discharge rate - meaning they're better suited for low-drain devices like clocks or remote controls.
To put it another way:
ALKALINE - Longer lasting, higher output, higher risk of leaking as they age.
CARBON - More consistent, lower-current output, lower risk of leaking.
** If you're shopping for CARBON ZINC batteries in Australia, you may notice that they are generally called HEAVY DUTY - whilst ALKALINE batteries are always called ALKALINE.
Of course, if you are already using a CARBON ZINC (Heavy Duty) battery, but you are still not happy with the performance of your clock, please shoot us an email at: gday@roomtide.com and we'll do whatever it takes to keep you happy.
