Join the Get Ready Taskforce!
We invite you! - organizations, community groups, labor groups, and movement formations to join or collaborate with a short-term Taskforce to support existing infrastructure to protect, defend, and organize our communities towards a liberated future.
Why did we create this Taskforce?
In the South, we are facing fierce destruction from climate catastrophe as well as serious threats of organized political violence. As organizers on the ground in rural, Black, youth, Muslim, immigrant, and trans and queer communities, we anticipate different levels of intimidation and misinformation surrounding the upcoming elections. We have learned from 20 years of resistance after Katrina and the last 5 years of a global pandemic how to support and care for ourselves. No matter the outcome of the elections, we are committed to building movement infrastructure and power.
What is the Taskforce?
A set of three teams will work together for one month (two weeks before the elections and two weeks after) October 22 - November 19th to:
- Strengthen on-the-ground community organizing through twice weekly regional skillshares and to share online resources and support community preparation
- Create and share political narratives about movement power and connection
- Connect and align with social justice organizations and formations to develop shared analysis of what we are seeing across the region
