This intensive session is mainly targeted at those working in research and communications. Participants will learn how to talk to the media effectively and structure their message. The training will also provide practical experience with practice recorded broadcast interviews and individual feedback.
This is a great opportunity for those either looking to improve their media skills or who are just starting to build their profile and deal with the media as part of their role. Whether you work in communications or research, this workshop gives practical advice and guidance on how to structure an interview, tell a story and what to do in a radio or TV interview.
To increase the effectiveness of the training, participants will be asked to send through ahead of time a piece of research they are planning to share with media so that they can really benefit from the practical, interactive elements.

Speaker bio
Simon Brooke has 25 years’ experience in communications training and development. He is a media interview and presentation coach, as well as teaching both presentation writing and delivery. He is also a freelance journalist and editor working for most national newspapers as well as various specialist publications on subjects ranging from travel, business and management to marketing, education, the environment and property. Simon has over 17 years media coaching experience, having worked for a wide variety of blue chip clients including Visa, British Airways, RBS, PwC and EDF Energy. As Head of Broadcasting at the Conservative Party, Simon trained senior politicians to appear on television and radio and to handle media interviews.
