The Nature Investment Lab is a collaborative initiative designed to advance investments that positively impact nature and biodiversity.
Scaling financing for NbS in Brazil faces legal obstacles, high costs due to a lack of replicable models, inconsistent impact measurement methods, and financing structures that don't address NbS risks. Overcoming these challenges requires strategic capital shifts and enhanced public-private collaboration to mobilize funds, mitigate risks, develop scalable projects, and establish supportive policies and markets.
In response to the urgent need to develop NbS projects in Brazil to help achieve its NDC targets, Banco do Brasil, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS), Itaúsa Institute, and USAID have launched a new lab dedicated to strengthening the NbS investment ecosystem in Brazil.
