In celebration of this year’s Earth Day theme, Our Planet, Our Power, The Bunker will host an Earth Month show, Fragile Earth: capturing the beauty, vulnerability, and resilience of our planet. In collaboration with SLO Climate Coalition, we invite artists to capture the delicate balance of nature, while considering the urgent environmental challenges threatening our world.

Vision: Fragile Earth seeks to explore the profound connection between humanity and the natural world. We invite artists to illuminate the intricate beauty of our planet, the vulnerabilities it faces under environmental pressure, and the remarkable resilience that emerges in the face of crisis.

This show is a tribute to Earth’s landscapes, ecosystems, and communities, celebrating the marvels of nature while urging reflection on the pressing need for environmental stewardship and justice.Artists are encouraged to engage with the complexity of environmental justice and amplify the power of collective solutions to create a just, sustainable future.

Through your art, we invite you to question, inspire, and imagine.

How can we honor the beauty of our planet while confronting the impacts of climate injustice?

What does resilience look like in the face of environmental crisis, and how can we harness our collective power to protect our shared home?

Whether rooted in personal experience, an exploration of global struggle, or a vision of hope, we welcome artwork that reflects our planet’s fragile beauty and our power to sustain it.

GUIDELINES:
We welcome submissions from amateurs, professionals, and youth alike. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or someone expressing your creativity for the first time, your voice is essential to this conversation. All media are accepted, including painting, sculpture (only to be shown opening night), photography, mixed media, digital art, and performance art (for opening night only).

Art must be original and completed in the last 2 years.
Artists may submit up to three (3) works.
Original works in any two-dimensional or three-dimensional fine art medium.
Three dimensional art MUST be able to hang on the wall to be considered to be part of the show for the whole month.
Works must not exceed 30 lbs.
Works must not exceed dimensions of 6’ by 6’.
Works must be ready to hang (professionally framed/wired).
All works must be made available for sale.

ENTRY PROCEDURE
There are no entry fees to apply.

SALES
The Bunker SLO collects a 35% commission on all sales, and participating artists receive a 65% commission.

TRANSPORTATION
If chosen for the show, artists are responsible for safe delivery to and timely pickup of work from The Bunker, located at 810 Orcutt Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Drop off and pickup appointments will be announced upon selection.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All applications are due by March 4th, 2025.
While this is not a juried show we will confirm that work flows within the gallery space and cohesively as a group.

Consent for Photography and Authorization for Publication

I hereby give my consent for photography, filming, videotaping and/or audio recording or other means of capturing my image or voice and/or being quoted in the media or printed materials (including social media and websites) to Planned Parenthood of the California Central Coast and The Bunker SLO.

I authorize the use of such for any of the following purposes:

As part of a public exhibition of photographs or artwork;
As part of a webpage, slideshow video, or other electronic presentation;
As part of an agency publication, such as a newsletter or brochure;
As incorporated in advertising or media outreach on behalf of the agency; and
In other formats that may be viewed or distributed publicly.

I hereby waive any right to compensation for such uses by reason of the foregoing authorization. I and my successors or assigns hereby hold the SLO Climate Coalition, The Bunker SLO and its personnel and affiliated programs harmless for any and all liability which may or could arise from activities authorized by this agreement.

Authorization will expire 12 months after the date of signature of this form. Upon expiration of this Authorization, Planned Parenthood of the SLO Climate Coalition will not permit further release of any photography or information, but will not be able to call back any photography or information already released.

I and my successors or assigns may rescind this Authorization up until a reasonable time before the photography, video, or recordings are used, but I must do so in writing.

I have a right to receive a copy of this authorization.
