Welcome: This document contains important information about my Dreamwork services and business policies. Although documents such as these are often long and sometimes complex, it’s important that you understand them and have had the opportunity to have your questions answered. By signing this document, it will represent an agreement between us, as Dreamer and Dream Tender.
What to expect: Dreamwork sessions are one hour (60 minutes) in length. The Dreamer is responsible for bringing a dream to the session. Facilitated by the Dream Tender, the dream is explored in a variety of ways. Dreamers can expect to leave the session with a suggested home practice. Dreamwork sessions include one-to-two follow-up emails within a week of the session.
Dreamers have reported that this form of dreamwork (specifically Dream Tending) can enhance creativity, broaden emotional range, and deepen one’s ability to contact and understand the deep psyche. Initiating and deepening one’s relationship with one's dreams can be fruitful and healing. And too, it may also include exposure to uncomfortable feelings and images. While often deeply moving, there are no guarantees about what will happen. The Dreamer is paying for a length of time of facilitated engagement with their dream, not a particular outcome.
While often therapeutic, Dreamwork is not a substitute for therapy or counseling services. Dreamwork is not a clinical service and is not intended as mental health counseling or crisis management services. Therefore, if you are actively suicidal, engaging in self-harm, currently experiencing delusions or hallucinations and are not under the care of a qualified mental health professional, Dreamwork is not recommended. I reserve the right to refuse or cease services if I believe you exceed the level of care or support I can offer in a non-clinical setting.
I also reserve the right to refuse service or terminate immediately if you threaten, bully or berate me and you will be responsible for paying for the session in full. By signing this consent form, you, the Dreamer, understand this.
Technological Issues: Virtual sessions will happen via Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet (to be agreed on prior to session). It is the Dreamer’s responsibility to ensure that their internet connection is stable, and that they are in a location that is private. If we get disconnected, I will attempt to reconnect with you. If we cannot reestablish a connection, I will call the phone number given, and the remainder of the session will happen via phone.
Email notifications: When appointments are scheduled, automatic email reminders of your appointment may be sent to the e-mail you used when scheduling your first appointment. By signing this consent form, you agree to receive these notifications, and understand that email is not a confidential medium for transmitting information.
Fees: Dreamwork sessions are $120 for the initial 90-minute session and $90 for follow-up/additional 60 min sessions. You, the Dreamer, agree to pay the stated fee by credit card or automatic bank transfer via Square or Venmo at the beginning of each session. If you, the Dreamer, are prevented from attending your scheduled session and do not cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, you agree to pay 50% of the session fee. Additionally, the Dreamer is responsible for attending sessions on time. If you are late, your appointment will still need to end on time and you will be charged the full fee.
Confidentiality: While Dreamwork is not a health care service and as such is not protected by HIPAA, I will do everything in my power to keep your information private and confidential, including encrypted email, password-protected computer, and a locked file box (for printed materials). If there is an information breach, I will notify you via the contact information you provide.
While Dreamwork sessions are not therapy, I am a licensed mental health counselor and as such have mandated reporting and other duties that must be followed.
- If I have reason to suspect that a child or vulnerable adult (elderly or incapacitated adult) has been abused or neglected, I am required to notify Child Protective Services (CPS) or Adult Protective Services (APS) within twenty-four hours. I will also be required to provide them with your contact information.
- If you tell me that you plan on killing an identified person or group of others, I am required to notify law enforcement and those potentially in danger.
- Additionally, if you tell me you intend on specifically and immediately ending your own life, I will contact a designated crisis responder or law enforcement for a wellness check. I will provide them with your contact information.
Contacting me: Email is my preferred method of communication. I am not often immediately available via phone or text, as I do not answer my phone when with Dreamers or otherwise unavailable. I do not respond to emails immediately. Unless I am out of the office, I will return your correspondence within one week/five business days.
