Part 1. Enrollment Information
Family Involvement
Takoma Park Cooperative Nursery School is an outdoor school committed to building community in our walkable Long Branch neighborhood and providing equitable access to nature. As a school, we walk toward anti-racism, compassion, intentionality, honesty, and creating an environment where individuals of all identities and abilities can thrive. Our ongoing work is to strengthen these commitments and improve our local community.
We view this work through the lenses of family involvement, partnership with parents, community outreach, ensuring access to nature for all children, and learning together to become the community we want to be.
Co-oping (working in your child's class) and serving on an administrative committee is a requirement of admissions and continued enrollment. At Takoma Park Cooperative Nursery School, every family actively contributes through co-oping, creating a vibrant, supportive community. Co-oping is flexible—biweekly, weekly, or monthly—and accommodates varying family needs, with extra support for single parents or those facing challenges (travel, family leave, extended illness).
