Parents/Friends Blitz and Main Tournament Side-Events

Friday, Sat. & Sun., March 7-9, 2025
The Virginia Chess Federation is extermely pleased to host the 2025 State Scholastic Chess Championships in Charlottesville, VA, at Monticello High School.

While your sons, daughters, and players are participating in the BLITZ or MAIN Tournaments, why not play some chess on your own? The Parents & Friends (P&F) events are your chance to do so. There are two P&F Events you can participate in:
- Friday Night P&F Blitz Tournament: 4 Rounds, held simultaneously ON FRIDAY NIGHT with the Scholastic and College Blitz tournaments.
- P&F Main Tournament: 4 Rounds of Chess starting 15-minutes after your players' Round 2 games begin in the Main tournament. The next rounds in the P&F start 15-minutes after Rounds 3, 4, and 5 of the Main tournament. This means you can play up to 4 rounds of rated chess!!
Prizes are Gift Certificates to our on-site Bookstore, with amounts determined by the number of parents/friends who play. Gift Certificates CANNOT be exchanged for cash.

To play in these P&F events, you need to be the parent or friend of a player in the tournament. Scholastic or College-age players cannot play in this side event, it is for adults only.

TO PLAY you must be a member of the US Chess Federation. Join US Chess from the VA Chess Federation home page, www.vachess.org. When you navigate to this page, select the Join US Chess button on the left side of your screen. You can also use the same link to update the US Chess membership for your son/daughter/players.

TO REGISTER: Fill out the form below and submit your payment by Credit Card or your PayPal account. Required information is indicated with a red asterix (*). Registration is complete and your information is submitted to tournament organizers as soon as your PayPal payment is processed.

Registration Fee for P&F Blitz is $15 for P&F Blitz and $30 for the P&F main tournament through Feb 28th. Entry fees increase by $5 on March 1st and at the Tournament Site. Register now, why wait?
