Callejo-Botello Latino Leadership Academy Application

The Latino Leadership Academy was inspired by the successful Latino Center for Leadership Development, which developed over 50 fellows who today serve their community in various ways including in elected and appointed office. Building on that success, the Callejo-Botello Latino Leadership Academy is now searching for the next class of fellows to continue cultivating leaders who are ready to bring fresh ideas and positive change to meet the growing demand for Latino leadership in the NTX region.
Alumni Spotlight:
Our program has produced leaders such as Montserrat Garibay, Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Department of Education; State Representatives Victoria Neave and Ana Maria Ramos; Dallas City Councilmember Jaime Resendez; Dallas ISD Board President Joe Carreon;
Austin Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes; Terrell Councilmember Mayrani Velazquez; Dallas College Trustee Monica Lira Bravo; Justice of the Peace Sasha Moreno; Dallas Criminal Court Judge Dominique Torres Williams; former Cockrell Hill Councilmember Claudia Sandoval; and former Dallas ISD Trustee Justin Henry.

Program Schedule

The academy runs from February through September 2025, with four weekend seminars on the following dates:

- February 20-23
- April 3-5
- June 5–7
- September 11–14 (closing ceremony on Sunday)

Each of the first three seminars will start on Thursday evening and conclude Saturday evening, while the final session will include a Sunday afternoon closing ceremony.

Application Details

Program Fee: I commit to paying the $2,000 program fee. Payment options include:
- One-time payment of $2,000
- Four payments of $500
- Ten monthly payments of $200
- Fundraising and/or sponsorship options available

A $250 deposit is required upon acceptance into the program.

What is the Latino Leadership Academy?
The Latino Leadership Academy focuses on preparing North Texas leaders with accelerated training to equip them for the campaign season and the challenges of public service.

Is the academy affiliated with LCLD?
Yes, the academy is a program of the Callejo Botello Foundation (501(c)(3)).

Payment and Sponsorship Details
Checks should be made out to the “Callejo Botello Foundation.” Donations are tax-deductible.

Cost of Participation
Selected participants will pay a $2,000 fee, with payment plans and limited scholarships available. Fees cover seminar expenses, speaker honorariums, meals, space rental, and materials.

Application Process
Applicants must submit an online application, resume, headshot, and participate in a virtual interview.

Applicants must reside in one of the following North Texas counties: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Summerville, or Tarrant.
