  • Basic Info

  • Your Natural Hair

    Your Natural Hair

  • How long is your hair? If you have curly hair, pull the curl all the way down to find your true length.

  • How fine or coarse are your individual strands? Roll a single hair between your fingers. If you...

  • How Dense is your hair? Density refers to how much hair you have per square inch. You could have coarse textured strands but very little hair (sparse). Or you could have fine strands but a lot of it (dense). Part your hair and check the mirror—the more scalp you see, the less dense your hair is.

  • What’s your natural, untreated, air-dried hair pattern? If your hair is texturally treated, think back to when it wasn’t.

  • What is your NATURAL color? We are particularly interested in your hair's natural level of lightness. Look at your new growth close to your scalp. That is your true color. Don't consider artificial color, tone, or greys (unless you're 75-100% grey).

  • How much of your hair is grey? If your hair is color-treated, answer with your natural grey percentage.

  • How’s Your Hair Looking Right Now? Let’s Snap the Perfect Pic! 📸

    • Find Good Light: Use natural or well-lit indoor lighting—avoid harsh shadows or direct sunlight.
    • Let It Flow: Arrange your hair forward over your shoulders. No tucking behind the ears!
    • Tilt Slightly Down: A small chin tilt showcases your hair beautifully.
    • Frame It Right: Hold your phone at arm’s length, capturing your hair from roots to ends. No blurry or cropped pics!
    • Show Problem Areas: Upload clear snaps of any spots needing attention.

Important: Cut-off images won’t work. If you prefer not to show your face, cover it with your hair or use your phone’s mark-up tool. Your photo is for assessment only and is never shared. 💛

  • Frequent Trims: The Secret to Healthy, Beautiful Hair

Frequent Trims: The Secret to Healthy, Beautiful Hair

Regular trims are key to keeping your hair healthy and preventing damage. They also set the foundation for achieving your desired lightness during the coloring process. If hair is damaged, a trim might be necessary before lightening to ensure the best results. After all, a great haircut isn’t just about style—it’s essential for showcasing your most stunning hair color! ✂️✨
  • Will you need a haircut or trim? We recommend cutting and trimming your hair at least four times a year.

  • Lifestyle factors. "I do the following...

  • Did You Know? Less Shampoo = Healthier Hair!

Did You Know? Less Shampoo = Healthier Hair!

Most stylists recommend shampooing just once a week. Frequent washing can roughen and damage your hair, leading to breakage and dullness. It also speeds up color fading, often leaving your hair with unwanted brassy tones. Keep your color fresh and vibrant by spacing out your washes—it’s a small change with big benefits!
  • Allergies & Contraindications

    Allergies & Contraindications
  • Do you have a sensitive scalp?

  • Do you:

    1. Have any known allergies to hair/beauty products, including hair color?
    2. Do you have any history of, or currently have, any skin/scalp conditions or sensitivities? Examples inluded Psoriasis, dandruff, dermatitis, etc.
    3. Have you currently, or in the past, experiencing hair loss (natural or unnatural)? Examples include chemotherapy, traction alopecia from extension use, alopecia areata, auto-immune, etc.

    If so, briefly explain:

Chemical Services & Allergies: What You Should Know

Hair services come with a small risk of allergic reactions, typically due to an ingredient called Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) or its byproduct, PTD. These are present in all hair dyes, even natural and ammonia-free options. To ensure your safety, we recommend scheduling a patch test before your appointment. If you choose to skip the test, we’ll ask you to sign a waiver.

For on-scalp bleach, a patch test must be conducted by a licensed medical professional, as salons are unable to perform this. Should you proceed with an on-scalp bleach service, you do so at your own risk. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities! 🌟

  • Hair History

    Hair History

  • Is ANY part of your hair currently colored? Or is it completely virgin?

Virgin hair is the gold standard of natural hair—it’s completely untouched, undamaged, and unprocessed. This means no bleach, dye, color, or chemical treatments have ever been applied. Keep in mind, if the ends of your hair have been colored or processed, your hair is no longer considered virgin, even if the roots are natural. Understanding your hair’s history is essential for choosing the best services and achieving your dream look! ✨

  • Your Hair Color History Over the Last 3 Years:

    This includes:

    • Professional Services: Highlights, semi/permanent color, lightening, keratin treatments, relaxers, etc.
    • DIY Experiments: Home kits, box dyes, or anything else.

If correction is needed, share problem areas like uneven tones or damage. Transparency is key—every detail helps us create your dream hair! 💇‍♀️✨

  • How recent was your last color service?

  • What color service(s) did you get in that appointment?

If you didn't get any lightening services that time but did in the previous appointment, select those as well. Unless you colored over everything darker - then select all-over-color.

  • How high of a population of highlights do you have?

Consider the highlighted area and how scanty or solid it is; even if you have some regrowth.

  • How much virgin regrowth do you have?

  • Would you consider your hair a corrective situation? Some examples would include splotchy color, unintentional orange hair, bleed marks, discoloration, box dye jobs, severe damage, etc. Don't worry we aren't judging.

  • What color is your COLOR-TREATED hair?

This could be an all-over-color or just grown-out highlights. Focus on just the artificial color. This gives us an idea of what we're working with.

  • What You Leave Out is Just as Important as What You Highlight!

What You Leave Out is Just as Important as What You Highlight!

Blonde hair is all about balance. If everything is highlighted, nothing stands out. While solid blondes can be stunning, the modern trend leans toward soft gradients—shaded roots blending into brighter ends with luminous face-framing pops. Adding depth not only mimics a youthful, sun-kissed glow but also keeps your hair looking fresh and healthy. Based on what you’ve shared, we’d suggest adding a few lowlights for dimension and contrast. ✨

  • The Truth About Removing Artificial Dye

The Truth About Removing Artificial Dye

Lifting out artificial colors like black or red is no small feat. These shades carry a heavy dye load, deeply saturating into the hair’s cortex, making them notoriously tricky to remove. Even semi-permanent colors can be a challenge! At Blondify Studio, we use specialized artificial dye reducers that work gently and effectively, shrinking the color molecules for safer removal. However, removing artificial dye always involves a level of color correction, and success isn’t guaranteed. We’ll do everything possible to guide you toward your dream color while keeping your hair’s health our top priority. Patience, a solid plan, and a touch of magic are key to this journey! ✨
  • Did You Know?

Hair color needs 2–4 days to fully settle into your cortex. If something goes wrong, acting quickly increases the chances of a full recovery or reversal. But keep in mind, achieving the perfect fix often takes multiple sessions. Trying to tackle too much in one sitting can lead to critical, irreversible damage. Patience is key to preserving your hair’s health while achieving the results you want. We’re here to guide you every step of the way for the safest, most stunning outcome!

  • What is your GOAL hair color? We are just looking for an idea of darkness and lightness. Tone, and technique will be determined when we meet.

  • Facts About Going Far From Your Natural Color

Facts About Going Far From Your Natural Color

The further you stray from your natural hair color, the more porous your hair becomes, and the less durable your results will be. This is because the cuticle layer is irreversibly lifted, permanently altering the structure of your hair. Much like a sliced apple, your hair will gradually oxidize and lose its vibrancy. To keep it looking fresh and bright, regular maintenance and touch-ups are essential. 🍎✨
  • How Much Dimension Do You Want?

Dimension is all about the balance between your highlights and natural hair. It’s what creates that pop and contrast in your color.

    • More Dimension: Keeping more of your natural hair will give you a dynamic, dimensional look.
    • Less Dimension: A denser highlight will create a more solid appearance. This can be stunning but often comes with a higher cost due to the extra work.

For now, don’t worry about the chunkiness, fineness, color, level, or tone of the highlights—just think about the *overall balance* of light and dark in your hair.

  • How High Up Do You Want Your Highlights?

Where your highlights start makes a big difference in both the look and upkeep:

    • Higher Highlights: Highlights starting closer to your scalp give a bold, bright look but require frequent maintenance to keep them fresh.
    • Lower Highlights: Soft shadows or root drops create a natural, blended effect that grows out more gracefully, giving you extra time between touch-ups.

Think about your lifestyle and how much upkeep you’re comfortable with—either way, we’ll customize your highlights to suit your style perfectly! ✨

  • What Style of Highlight Do You Love?

When it comes to highlight styles, it’s all about how noticeable you want the individual strands or clusters to be.

  • How much of your head do you want highlighted?

  • What Tones Are You Drawn To for Your Hair?

Let’s explore the hair tones that resonate with your style and personality:

    • Cool or Warm? Are you drawn to cool, ashy tones or warm, golden hues?
    • Jewelry Clues: If you prefer silver jewelry, you might lean toward cooler tones. Love gold? Warm tones could be your match!
    • Overall Aesthetic: Think about the colors that make you feel amazing—icy blondes, buttery highlights, or rich caramel shades?

Don’t overthink it! We’ll fine-tune the exact tone when we meet in person. For now, just share the vibes you’re going for!

  • The Chase for Cool-Toned Hair

Did you know that to achieve "cool" hair, you need to be lifted one shade lighter than your target level? That’s because cool tones absorb more light. While they can be absolutely stunning, they’re not the most durable. The blue color molecule, which creates those icy tones, is large and easily washes out. To maintain a cool look, you’ll need toning shampoo *and* regular gloss appointments. If low-maintenance and longevity are more your style, consider something neutral—or dare we say it—warm! The results can be just as gorgeous and far easier to maintain. ✨

  • Maintenance & Budget

    Maintenance & Budget
  • To achieve your goal, are you interested in sessions or one transformative appointment?

We’ll provide a quote based on what’s needed to achieve your goal. Keep in mind, stunning multi-tonal balayage or platinum perfection often requires multiple sessions, some results simply can’t be rushed.

For more complex transformations, you can choose between one big session (higher up-front cost) or several smaller sessions over time. Each option has its perks, and we’ll recommend the best path based on your goals. Let’s make your dream hair a reality! ✨

  • How important is speed or timing when it comes to your hair appointments?

Some services take a lot of time. That said, we totally understand that timing matters! Whether you’ve got little ones, a busy schedule, or just prefer shorter visits, it’s important for us to know so we can plan your sessions in a way that works best for you.

  • What role does budget play in choice of services and frequency of visit?

Budget is always an important factor to consider. The further from your natural color you go, the more time (and money) will be needed to create and maintain your look. Let's face it, they don't call blondes "high maintenance" for nothing. Be realistic and honest.

  • What’s Your Budget? Let’s Make It Work!

Tell us the budget you’d like to stick to, and we’ll do our best to make it happen. If your desired look exceeds your budget, we’ll try to suggest alternatives—like different techniques or stylists—that capture the essence of your vision while staying within your goal. Let’s create something beautiful that works for you!

  • How frequently can you visit the salon to maintain your style?

Even with endless budget, sometimes what we desire isn't practical when it comes to our busy schedules. While we love seeing you, it's important to consider how often you wanna see us.

  • Blonding at its Best: What to Consider

Blonding at its Best: What to Consider

You’ve selected one of the most high-maintenance and costly looks. Blonding at this level is truly an investment of time and money. If budget, timing, or visit frequency is a concern, we recommend considering adjustments to your goals. Opting for a more dimensional look or staying closer to your natural color can still deliver stunning results while being more budget and time friendly. Let’s find the perfect balance for you! ✨
