  • With limited context information, it’s best to change settings moderately. If we assume people feel a bit cold, you may either increase by 1 °C the temperature or reduce ventilation provided CO2 indoor levels remain within healthy limits. Every decision has a consequence in terms of comfort, energy consumption, and equivalent greenhouse gas emissions!

  • We often get this question. Imagine going out from home and driving at 40 km/h till you reach your destination without ever stopping or changing speed. Does it sound realistic to you?

    Buildings are dynamic, so changing settings for optimal conditions should be the default. The problem is that it is not easy to do!

  • The compressor is responsible for most of the energy consumption. Hence, changing temperature settings consumes more than ventilation settings (fan). Each degree changes energy consumption between 2% and 15% depending on indoor and outdoor conditions.

    Fun fact: An AC in the "off" state consumes similar power like charging between 1 to 10 smartphones 24/7.

    ACs are the main contributor to the scope 2 emissions in buildings. This does not count emissions from their manufacturing or refrigerants.
