Calling all secondary teachers! Utah State University’s Hunger Solutions Institute and Utah Agriculture in the Classroom have teamed up to provide a Food Waste Reduction Professional Development. This workshop has been developed for grades 6-12 teachers interested in implementing food waste to teach Utah's core curriculum. During the workshop, teachers will explore the origins food, describe how food waste affects natural resources and the environment, and identify potential solutions to mitigate food waste’s carbon footprint. Participants will also learn how to implement food audits in the lunchroom and reduce food waste at home and school.
This workshop is free to attend, will include dinner, and each attendee will receive a classroom resource kit (worth up to $100), a $100 stipend, as well as USBE relicensure hours.
