Refer to the EU Installation Guide located on Imaginet for details of steps below. Perform the steps in this list before powering on the printer.
Remove Y-axis fixtures located at front inside access doors (Could be located at the back on some units. Remove plate covers on each side to access. Remove two screws securing large pulley gear)
Remove print carriage fixing tool
Rotate Z motor knob to raise the print carriage
Install computer (PC) holder
Horizontal adjustment of the printer. Leveling printer by lowering leveling feet. Check at all required points.
Ink empty sensor connection check located behind main ink tanks
Ink filling into the main tanks
Pour premixed coolant (50/50 automotive) into UV lamp controller reservoir - [Do not turn on before turning on the main power. Two gallons is recommended to have on hand for filling reservoir]
Printhead installation - [6 print heads, shipped separately]
Power cable connection
Powering on, installing ink, and configuring printer settings
Turn on the main power - [Rear power supply]
Turn on UV lamp controller and set lamps to 70% - [Back left]
Install the control application "Print EXP"
Connect the PC and the main unit with an Ethernet cable
Set the IP address of the PC to "192.168.127.200" and the subnet mask to "255.255.255.0". IP address of printer will be set 192.168.127.10 and can not be changed.
Turn on sub power - [Since the ink supply starts after the sub power is turned on, promptly execute negative pressure adjustment (ink drops from the print head surface if there is no negative pressure) Be ready to press the purge buttons on the head carriage if ink starts to enter the clear vacuum tubes above the sub tanks.]
Negative pressure adjustment. Set CMYK to P1 -4.4 P2 -4.7. Set GlWh to P1 -4.9 P2 -5.2 (These values may need adjustment for elevation)
Launch Print EXP from computer
Select Menu "Voltage" and confirm that the voltage value of Head and the value of Head Temp are displayed. Adjust Offset Voltage for H7 (Gloss) to 5
Set head temp to 47 for all heads
Confirmation of completion of ink filling - [Check the numbers displayed on the main board in front of the printer. "6" is in supply. "0" is supply completed]
Set sub tank temp for CMYK+Wh to 43. Set sub tank temp for Gl to 47
Top off UV lamp coolant reservoir to fill line
Remove air bubbles from the print heads with a syringe and purges
Print head nozzle check - [No missing dots in all colors]
Table level check with dial gauge. Must be within 0.20 mm tolerance
Check Z-axis thickness detection. Gap should be between 1.5mm - 2mm. If not, move forward with Thickness Detection Sensor Adjust
Check right and left crash sensor height. Should be 0.20mm lower than carriage height
Perform XY origin correction
Print Head Calibrations. All calibrations should be done at High Print Speed
Vertical Check - Print Adjust
Horizontal Check/Adjust
Step Adjust - Print Adjust
Head Space - Horizontal
Head Space - Vertical
Color Adjust - Left Adjust
Color Adjust - Right Adjust
Bi-Direction Adjust - Print Adjust
Print VersaWorks Test Print to verify print quality
Y-axis safety margin warning regarding UV light
Y-axis safety margin registration - Check with the user as it may not be necessary for some users. Important: Explain the user risk of not setting a safety margin. For details, refer to "Registering Y-Axis Safety Margin" User Risk in the Installation Manual.
For users who do not need a safety margin, If the safety margin is not implemented at the request of the user, the printable range in the Y direction will increase by 100mm, but since the UV irradiation range exceeds the table, please explain “Do not look directly at the UV lamp” and “Keep away from the UV lamp within 1 m”.
Explanation to the user 1 - Explain the contents of "Safety Information on This Machine" to the user and ask them to sign the "Note of Confirmation".
Explanation to the user 2 - If the user does not register this checklist “Y-axis safety margin registration”, explain the risk of “Precautions for Maximum Printable Area” listed in “Safety information on this machine” included in the package.
