The Early Settlement Mediation program offers FREE mediation services to all Oklahoman utilizing community volunteers, like YOU, who are trained to mediate disputes! There are thirteen (13) program offices statewide which are funded by the Administrative Office of the Courts. Each program provides mediation services to the courts and communities in the area they serve.
Our volunteer mediators come from all walks of life and desire to make the communities they live in a more peaceful place. To become an Early Settlement volunteer mediator, you must:
- Apply to the local Early Settlement Program.
- Complete a FREE 20-hours of training provided by Early Settlement.
- Observe a couple of mediations and be observed mediating a case for certification.
- Commit to 10 hours of volunteer service each year.
Many of our Volunteer Mediators develop an interest in mediating family and divorce cases, adult guardianship, and/or child permanency cases. There is additional training for mediating advanced mediation cases!
NOTE: The mediation certification for Early Settlement is only good when actively volunteering and is not recognized when conducting private for-fee mediations.
