Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation Rental Relief Application

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation’s Housing Relief Program is designed to provide stipends for in-city housing coupled with financial literacy opportunities for the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department’s sworn firefighters. By providing a stipend for in-city residency, the purpose is to enhance public safety and foster stronger relationships between Atlanta’s firefighters and their communities. Applicants are eligible for a rental stipend of up to $1,000 per month based on the applicant’s base salary. All stipends are for a maximum of 12 months. The rental property must be located within the corporate city limits of Atlanta, Georgia, and subsidy payments will be made directly to the property owner or management company. Participants of the program are also required to participate in free monthly literacy sessions.

Eligibility Requirements
- Be an active firefighter with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.
- Be a sworn firefighter for a minimum of two (2) years with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.
- Be Fire Department rank of Captain and below.
- Provide proof of employment with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.
- Good standing documentation from the Office of Professional Standards.
- Residence must be located within the City of Atlanta Department of Planning quadrant map. (See picture below).
- Participate in surveys, provide testimonials, or engage in similar activities as requested by the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation.
- Participate in one (1) financial literacy session per month while in the program.
- Provide a valid lease agreement showing intent to occupy the residence for a minimum of 12 months or current lease.
- Active leases must have a minimum of six (6) months remaining of the lease at the time of application.
- Rental property must be the primary residence by the paricipant and cannot be owned by the participant, a family member or by someone else who he or she has a personal relationship with.
- Copy of valid drivers license
- Each participant will agree to exit the program immediately if he/she fails to maintain any of the qualifying eligibility requirements.
- Each participant will sign a participation agreement to acknowledge and accept the rules, terms, and conditions of the program.
- Each rental location will be required to provide financial payment information.
- Participation is guaranteed for 12 consecutive months only from the time of acceptance into the program.
- Early termination of a lease (regardless of the reason) will constitute the end of any associated award distributions.
- Failure to adhere to program requirements may result in expulsion from the program and/or delayed or suspended awards.
Please note that all funds for the rental relief program will be disbursed directly to the property management company and not the individual.
