Description
The ENRS Nursing Research Authorship Award recognizes an ENRS member who disseminated research findings or important theoretical/methodological advances in the official ENRS Journal, Nursing Research, within the previous year (2024). The ENRS member may have served as sole author or first author of a team-based paper that has a final official publication date from January 1 to December 31 of the previous calendar year.
The award acknowledges the partnership between ENRS and the journal Nursing Research to support high quality, peer-reviewed research/scholarship in nursing. The award supports the ENRS mission to “Promote nursing science in the Northeastern United States” and the vision of “Promoting health through Nursing Science.” The award recognizes an ENRS member’s contribution to research dissemination, facilitation of career development of nurses and nursing students, and enhancement of science and nursing practice in the Northeastern Region.
The application must include the following:
- Submission of the online nomination form with identification of citation information for applicant's final publication appearing in Nursing Research between January 1 and December 31 of the designated previous year with an agreement to attend the Annual Conference to receive the award
- Identification of citation information for applicant publication appearing in Nursing Research during January 1 and December 31 of designated previous year (for example, January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, for 2025 award)
- Include a personal statement that demonstrates the potential/actual impact of this work on practice, policy, and/or scholarship (200 words or less)
Award Eligibility
- Be an ENRS member in good standing and have published in Nursing Research during the previous year. If the paper has multiple authors, the first author must have active ENRS membership.
- Authors that have published in Nursing Research during the specified period may self-nominate their publication or be nominated.
- The awardee must agree to attend the ENRS Awards Luncheon to receive the award.
- Winners of the ENRS Nursing Research Authorship Award for the previous three years are not eligible for nomination.
Award Criteria
Peer review will focus on the following criteria to meet aims of the Award and address a variety of articles that impact nursing and nursing practice. Each criterion will be rated on a 5-point scale (1 as the lowest rating and 5 as the highest possible rating).
- To what degree does the paper reflect and advance the image of nursing as a scientific discipline?
- To what degree does the paper reflect strong science by an innovative, systematic approach grounded in knowledge synthesis which will generate significant knowledge for nursing practice/science and related disciplines?
- To what degree does the paper address a significant gap in nursing knowledge?
- To what degree does the paper integrate diverse perspectives of scientific inquiry to influence health care and health sciences?
- To what degree are the implications for future research relevant to the career development of future nurse scholars?
- To what degree does the paper impact not only research but also policy, practice, and the public to broadly disseminate innovative knowledge for societal well-being?
- Personal statement that demonstrates the potential/actual impact of this work on practice, policy and/or scholarship (200 words or less)
- Merit: is this paper worthy of the ENRS Authorship Award?
Notifications
Email notifications will go out in late February 2025. Winners will be formally recognized on Friday, April 4, 2025, during the Awards Luncheon of the 37th Annual Scientific Sessions.
