The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network Trauma-Informed Care 2.0 training is fundamentally about system change. One of the ways we change systems is making sure everything and everyone is seen and heard.
Most of the behavioral health systems Americans rely on, both public and private, have a lot of blinds spots when it comes to recognizing and addressing trauma. Our goals are to ensure that we are able to see those blinds spots, and to act as change agents to rebuild the system, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
We continue to see a great number of people who have experienced trauma in their lives, and the devastating long-term consequences of that lived experience. We as CPSs can make a difference to those we are serving when we are able to look through a trauma-informed lens.
This training is for Georgia’s Certified Peer Specialist Workforce. It enhances the trainings received by Certified Peer Specialists-Mental Health (CPS-MH), Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialists (CPS-AD), Certified Peer Specialists-Parent (CPS-P), and Certified Peer Specialists-Youth (CPS-Y), can expand the capacity of the peer relationship—both depth and breadth—and, can enrich the healing qualities of the relationship between the peer and the Certified Peer Specialist.
The Trauma-Informed Care Project Consultant, Pam Brooks-Crump, will confirm your ACTIVE CPS status. Then if there is room in the training that you applied for, Pam will call you to confirm your availability. After this confirmation, she will send you an acceptance email and for digital trainings a zoom link. You MUST confirm your attendance by replying by text, phone or email.
Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network will offer four (4) Trauma-Informed Care 2.0 Trainings to finish out the 2024 year. Two trainings will be online, conducted via Zoom, and two will be in person, held in the Atlanta-Metropolitian area.
