NOTE: This form is for applicants who have NOT previously served on GSA summer staff (including if you have been previously offered a position at GSA, but ultimately did not work at the summer program). If you have previously been on GSA summer staff, please complete this application instead.

Kentucky's Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is a three-week residential summer program for promising high-school aged artists. To learn more about the program, visit www.kentuckygsa.org or contact us at gsainfo@kentuckyperformingarts.org.

GSA 2025 New Staff application is due December 29, 2024 by 11:59pm ET

Applicants will receive follow up communication from GSA Administration no later than the week of January 6th, 2025.

Interviews will take place during the month of January 2025.

Offer letters will be sent via email in February 2025 and must be returned within 72 hours.

GSA 2025 Staffing Structure:

- 2 CRS positions available per session

- 1 Head RA position available per session

- Multiple RA positions available per session

- 1 Head DA position available per session

- Up to 12 DA positions available per session

NOTE: Dance, Instrumental Music, and Visual Art will have 2 DAs.

- 3 Intern positions available per session

The GSA 2025 Summer Program will take place in June and July at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Please review the following dates.

NOTE: All staff members must be moved into their room on campus prior to the start of training.

All Staff In Person Training Week: This year, we are asking all staff for both sessions of GSA 2025 to attend an in-person training week in the week before Session 1 begins (Monday, June 2nd through Saturday, June 7th).

Housing and meals will be provided to all staff members during this week. Staff members who are working Session 2 only will still need to report to campus in the week before the session starts (exact date TBD by GSA Admin).

GSA 2025 Session 1: June 8, 2025- June 28, 2025 (Design will only be held in Session 1)

The final date of employment for Session 1 Staff Members is June 29, 2025.

ALL Session 1 Staff Members must participate in Sunday's residence hall clean up and reset for Session 2. Tentatively, you can expect to be working from 9am-2pm on June 29, 2025.

GSA 2025 Session 2: July 6, 2025- July 26, 2025 (Dance will only be held in Session 2)

The final date of employment for Session 2 Staff Members is July 27, 2025.

ALL Session 2 Staff Members must participate in Sunday's residence hall clean up and packing. Tentatively, you can expect to work 9am-2pm on July 27, 2025.

GSA welcomes applicants regardless of whether or not they are alumni of the summer program.

All summer staff positions are full-time. Each summer staff member can expect to work a minimum of 40 hours a week, sometimes more.

Below are the GSA 2025 summer staff pay rates:

1st Time Staff Member- $12.00 per hour

Returning Staff Member- $13.00 per hour

Head Residential Advisor- $13.50 per hour

Head Discipline Assistant- $14.00 per hour

Co Residential Supervisors- $14.00 per hour

Staff are provided food and housing. More details will be made available during the interview process.

A brief description of each 1st time summer staff position can be found below; please be sure to review the full job description for your position(s) of interest on the GSA website here prior to completing your application.

Residential Advisor (RA): Staff who live in a residential hall with GSA students, providing supervision and mentorship to students outside of the classroom/studio setting. Applicants must have graduated high school no later than 2023 in order to apply. Multiple positions available.

Discipline Assistant (DA): Staff who assist faculty in the classroom and provide supervision and mentorship to students in the classroom/studio setting. DAs are provided on-campus housing but do not live in the same residential hall as GSA students. Applicants must have graduated high school no later than 2023 in order to apply.

One DA position available for each artform per session: Creative Writing, Dance*, Design, Drama, Film + Photography, Instrumental Music*, Musical Theatre, Visual Art*, and Vocal Music. (*Two DA positions per session are available for Instrumental Music, Dance, and Visual Art).

Administrative Intern: Staff who assist the GSA Administrative Team with various aspects of program management, including social media, event planning, special projects, etc. Interns are provided on-campus housing but do not live in the same residential hall as GSA students. Must be a high school graduate to apply. Three positions per session available.

Group Interviews for new staff applicants will be conducted via Zoom during the month of January 2025. This interview will be led by 1-3 members of GSA Administration and 1-2 members of GSA 2025 staff leadership. All interviews will last for 90 minutes and take place in the Eastern Time Zone.

A link to schedule your group interview will be emailed to you no later than the week of January 6th, 2025. The due date for scheduling your interview will be included in the email.
