  • Welcome to the Modern Welsh Paganism survey.

    This survey is for legal adults only.

    This research aims to provide a better understanding of the Neo-Pagan community who incorporate elements of Welsh culture into their practice by finding out the following directly from pracitioners: 

    • The basic demographics of Neo-Pagan practitioners who centre or incorporate Welsh culture into their Neo-Pagan practice,
    • How these practitioners self-identify,
    • How these practitioners identify other practitioners and what criteria are used to determine if others belong in their community, and
    • How, why, and to what extent these practitioners draw on, participate in, and / or support Welsh culture, traditions, and / or language.
  • Participation, Ethics, and Your Data

  • Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary.
    You are not required to complete this survey.
    None of the questions in the survey are required. Only written consent to participate is required via providing a functioning email address.
    You may skip any question you wish.
    You may stop or withdraw at any time for any reason.
    The amount of the survey completed, and your answers to survey questions, will not affect your treatment. 
    Data collected from you will be anonymized and treated with full confidentiality (for example, no names, email addresses, IP addresses, etc. will be attached to your answers).
    If published, your data will not be identifiable as yours. 


    Surveys submitted on or after 15 March 2025 will not be considered or included in any publication or final written analysis, and their data will be deleted.


    After submitting, you may contact the researcher (Jennifer Brown) at any time before 1 October 2025 to withdraw your submission or request that your anonymized submitted responses not be included in the research data set or the final written analysis.

    PLEASE NOTE that this survey asks questions about your demographics (e.g. age, nationality, race, gender identity) and your views regarding sensitive topics such as race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability as regards practitioners of Neo-Paganism who incorporate Welsh culture into their practice. This data will be anonymized and not tied to your identifying information (it will not be tied to your name, email address, IP address, etc).

  • The following survey is 3 parts totalling 43 questions all together. 

    The whole survey should take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete, depending on your reading speed and how in-depth you wish to answer the questions.

  • In this survey, we use “Neo-Pagan(s)” as an umbrella term which includes:

    • Polytheistic Pagans,
    • Polytheistic witches / occultists,
    • Monotheistic Pagans (e.g. Christian, Jewish, or Muslim Pagans)
    • Monotheistic witches / occultists (e.g. Christian, Jewish, or Muslim witches)
    • Non-theistic Pagans,
    • Non-theistic witches / occultists, 
    • Reconstructionists -- theistic or non-theistic (persons who base their practice on aspects of pre-Christian religions, philosophy, cultures, and / or history),
    • Eclectic, mixed, or syncretizing practitioners of paths regularly deemed “Pagan”, “Neo-Pagan”, or "polytheist",
    • Druids (self-labeled or students / members of any Druidic order),
    • Wiccans (self-labeled, solitary, or students / initiates of any Wiccan coven/tradition),
    • Nature-centreing theistic or non-theistic / humanist religions or lifestyles which may or may not include magic(k)al practice,
    • Traditional culture-centreing  theistic or non-theistic / humanist religions or lifestyles which may or may not include magic(k)al practice.
