  • MOTORIZED VEHICLES: (floats, cars, trucks, motorcycles, emergency vehicles) must be submitted with a copy of valid driver's license, proof of insurance, tag number, and make and model of the vehicle. THE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION ATTACHED.

    We will be working closely with the Selma Police Department to ensure the safety of the participants as well as the spectators. Vehicles will be placed at least two abreast to keep the flow of the parade moving along. All units must travel the parade route in a straight line, moving forward at all times. Weaving, circling and stopping are strictly prohibited. Please ask all members of your group abide by the enclosed list of rules which are applicable to all participants. The Selma Police Department will be empowered to remove any participant whose actions are deemed unsafe. The ultimate goal is to provide a fun, family oriented parade that will help us make and share special memories with Selma and Dallas County children.

    General safety precautions and rules:

    • No use or possession of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances
    • No throwing or handing out of candy or other items. Citations will be issued to anyone that is not in compliance.
    • No riding on hoods, trunks or roofs of vehicles
    • All car doors are to remain closed throughout parade route
    • All music MUST be Christmas music
    • All dancing MUST be appropriate and decent for family viewing
    • NO SANTA CLAUS OTHER THAN THE ONE THE CITY HAS ENLISTED
    • Line-up is at 3 PM - MUST PICK UP A NUMBER TO PARTICIPATE. Any participant without a number will be pulled from the parade.
    • MUST include name and phone number of someone who can be reached the day of parade in case of postponement or other problems
    • The floats will be judged by individuals from the community who are not affiliated with the City of Selma or the Chamber of Commerce. Judges will use a numbered criteria list to judge the floats. The floats with the highest point totals will win a first, second, or third place ribbon.
    • All fees must be paid for registration to be considered complete; no partial registrations will be accepted - this includes insurance cards and driver's licenses of all drivers. Fees are non-refundable and are required with registration. Non-payment will void registration.

                  • By my signature below or submission of this application, I the undersigned, do acknowledge that injures or loss can result from my participation in the 2024 City of Selma Annual Christmas Parade.

                    I, the undersigned, accept full responsibility and assume the risk for my participation. I, the undersigned, understand and agree to secure and maintain medical insurance on the participant/participants during the entire duration of participation. I, the undersigned, indemnify and hold the City of Selma, their employees, officers and staff harmless from any and all liability, claims, expenses, demands or legal actions or causes of action whatsoever arising out of or in connection with any loss, injury or damage associated with my participation.

                  • Parade Route

                  • The only entrance for line up is the intersection of Water Avenue and Washington Street. Washinton Street will be completely closed to non-parade participants.

                    Parade Route:  Parade starts at corner of Washington Street and Furniss Avenue. At corner Washington St. / Furniss Ave. turn left (West) on Water Ave. to Broad St., left (Sout) on Broad St., left (East) ending on Watet Ave. for the Annual Tree Lighting, Concert, Christmas Village and Fireworks.
