  • Continuing Education

    • Provide documentation of 10 CEUs (100 contact hours) over the 5-year renewal period in the area of specialty certification.
    • Continuing Education must be at the Intermediate or Advanced Levels.
    • Continuing Education must be from a variety of sources (direct participation in conferences/workshops; Journals; DVDs; Web-based CEUs) with no more than 3 CEUs (30 hours) derived from DVDs and Journals.
    • Continuing Education must come from a variety of topics (70 hours must come from topics specifically related to Fluency and Fluency Disorders; 30 hours from other topics related to diagnosing and treating fluency disorders (e.g., speech, language, motor learning, cognitive, behavioral therapy, sensory processing, executive functioning, autism, counseling, other related disorders).

  • Clinical Activity

  • Clinical Activity Parameters for Five-Year Renewal

    • Documentation of a minimum of 100 hours per year of Clinical Activity.
    • Clinical Activity may include both Direct and Indirect Clinical Contact Hours within the area of specialization (see definitions of Direct and Indirect Clinical Activity below).
    • Indirect Clinical Contact Hours may not exceed 20 hours per year.

     Direct Clinical Contact Activities:

    • Providing services in identification, prevention, assessment and intervention
    • Serving in a treatment-related supervisory capacity, and/or
    • Serving as a consultant in case-based programs or situations

    Indirect Clinical Contact Activities: 

    • Program Development 
    • Presentations
    • Publications
    • Teaching

    I attest that over the past 5 years I have obtained a minimum of 500 clock hours of active involvement in Clinical Activity within the area of stuttering, cluttering, and fluency disorders, with application of no more than 100 clock hours of Indirect Clinical Activity within the area of stuttering, cluttering, and fluency disorders.
