  • Adoption of Families

  • More than 1,500 families in East TN were devastated by the floods generated by Hurricane Helene in late September. Over 500 families had their homes completely destroyed. Tennessee Baptists have committed to build at least 40 new homes and repair as many others as possible. In collaboration with Appalachian Service Project (ASP), these homeowners will be vetted to ensure their true needs are met. To the extent possible, we want TBC churches to adopt these families and be with them through the entire process. Ideally, a church will adopt a family and contribute the cost of their new home ($25,000) or adopt a family and contribute the estimated cost of materials for their repair. However, churches that can only provide volunteers or lower dollar are welcome to adopt a family in conjunction with other churches.

If your church/association/business is interested in working on either a new home or repairing damaged homes, please complete the information below and we will get you on the schedule as soon as possible.

  • How would you be interested in helping? (Please mark all that apply.) Items marked are understood to be desires and intentions and subject to further approval by church or organizational leadership.

  • Please realize that this is a long-term recovery situation.  We will try and connect you to a project as soon as possible. Please be patient. Also, due to everyone’s desire to get families in houses as quickly as possible and to accommodate church volunteer schedules, sometimes a team may have to work with a family other than the one they adopted and another team may work with their family.
