NCCU Raleigh-Wake Chapter Scholarship awards of at least $1,000 are available to qualifying incoming freshman and community college transfer students who have been admitted to NCCU, and will start classes in fall 2025. Eligibility guidelines are as follows:
High School
- Resident of Wake County, NC
- Graduating high school senior
- Minimum 2.5 GPA (unweighted)
- SAT/ACT score of 900+ / ACT equivalent
Community College Transfer
- Current resident of Wake County, NC
- Graduated from a Wake County high school within the last 2 years (i.e., no earlier than Class of 2022)
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (Community College)
- Associates degree/credits must be earned from a participating school in the NC Community Colleges System
Requirements and Guidelines
BEFORE YOU BEGIN…It is recommended that you gather the required documents and information prior to filling out the application. Applicants must upload .PDF or .docx format copies of the following required documents:
- An official copy of high school transcript
- An official copy of community college transcript
NOTE: Transfer students must submit both a high school and college transcript
- A copy of SAT/ACT test scores
NOTE: Though currently not required by the university, submitting test scores enhances your application.
- A copy of your NCCU acceptance letter/Banner ID
- A letter of recommendation from a school official (e.g., principal/dean, counselor/advisor, teacher/professor, coach, etc.)
- A letter of recommendation from a non-relative (e.g., church/community leader, employer, NCCU alum)
NOTE: Letters of Recommendation must be addressed to the NCCU Raleigh-Wake Chapter Scholarship Committee and should not be dated prior to November 2024.
If your school’s policy is to send transcripts and recommendations directly to the chapter, the files can be sent to NCCURal.WakeScholarship@gmail.com or to NCCU Raleigh-Wake Chapter Scholarship Committee, PO Box 1331, Raleigh, NC 27602-1331.
Please be sure to provide the name, title, and contact info of the school official that will be forwarding the information.
Additional Information
- The Scholarship application deadline is Friday, March 14, 2025.
- All applicants will receive an email confirmation noting that their scholarship application packet has been received.
- Scholarship Finalists will be contacted by NCCU Raleigh-Wake Chapter Scholarship Committee to schedule an interview.
- Scholarship Award Recipients will be notified by May 2025.
- Recipients are required to attend the Scholarship Awards Reception that will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025.
NOTE: Failure to comply with this requirement can result in scholarship forfeiture.
- Recipients must submit a clear photograph of themselves (e.g., Senior portrait, .PNG format) for use in print announcements and prepare a 1-minute video message (e.g., brief bio and acknowledging award, .MP4 format) to be shown at reception.
- Scholarships Awards will be disbursed directly to the university on behalf of the recipient—upon verification of recipient’s Fall 2025 enrollment in pursuit of a degree at NCCU. Funds are usually distributed after Labor Day.
- This is not a renewable scholarship.
