The Minnesota Subcontractors Association (MSA), The Builders Group (TBG) and Holmes Murphy Construction will award four $3,000 scholarships to qualifying students. In addition, MSA and Kraus-Anderson Insurance will honor one student with a $5,000 Patrick Kennedy Scholarship.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be as of their fall semester; a freshman, sophomore or junior. (If attending longer than the traditional 4-years of undergrad, seniors may be eligible.)
- Applicants can either be:
- A current student in a construction-related field; or
- Enrolled in a construction or building trade major/field, if they are a dependent of an owner/employee whose company is an MSA member.
- Requirements relating to the two scholarship amounts:
- To qualify for three of the $3,000 scholarships: Applicant is in, or is entering, a construction-related craft or trade that puts them in the field (ex: plumbing, masonry, carpenter, electrical, etc.).
- To qualify for one of the $3,000 and the $5,000 scholarship: Applicant is in or entering a construction-related craft OR trade (as above) or a construction/building major that puts them in the office (ex: project manager, construction management, etc).
- Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- All fields must be completed. Transcripts and resumes must be attached or emailed separately. Applications with any missing information will automatically be rejected.
- Applicant must still be enrolled in school at time of awarding the payment to the school.
- Applicant must submit this application by 11:59 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Awards and Selection Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
- Applicants will be notified by early May via email.
- Scholarships will be awarded as a one-time payment made payable to the school. Recipients are required to notify MSA of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information.
- Scholarship recipients will be recognized at our annual General Contractor Partnership Awards in May 2025 in the Twin Cities (details coming soon). We invite the scholarship winners and a school rep to attend as our guest.
