In most cases, the IRS typically receives and processes true and accurate tax returns within 21 days of acknowledgement. If it has been more than 21 days, and you have not received any correspondance in the mail you may need to contact the IRS as they are the only ones that will issue funds.
The PATH ACT requires families that are claiming certain credits to wait until mid to late February before the IRS starts to process returns claiming those credits.

In some cases, the IRS may require you to verify your identity and tax return before issuing a refund. The IRS sends out verification letters that will include a 16-digit Letter ID number that is required to verify the return. If you do not verify it, it will not be processed or paid out. This helps protects consumers from identity theft and fraud. The steps for verification are very simple to complete but if done incorrectly could delay the processing of the refund. If you have to verify your identity reach out to your preparer to help ensure this is done properly and does not delay the processing of the return.
If state return is required, state returns are streamlined through the bank product also and if paid out before the federal refund the state refund could be used to pay any tax preparation fees and advances owed at that time. If this is done you will receive a higher deposit on your federal refund. If the state amount is more than the tax fee you will receive the difference with the funding method you selected. If the state refund amount is not enough to satisfy the tax preparation fee the full state will be taken and the remaining balance will come out of the federal. You will only be charged once for both state and federal preparation.
