The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi (JCCH) was incorporated in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with a goal to perpetuate the Japanese cultural heritage, educate future generations on the Japanese American experience in Hawaiʻi and foster understanding among Japanese in Hawaiʻi, U.S. and Japan.
The Hoʻohana Cohort Program aims to engage, connect, and equip the next generation of community organization leaders to create long-term sustainability in aging grassroots organizations. The program will last 12-18 months, with 6-8 months of training/exploration sessions followed by an optional board experience with a local community organization (if desired). Participants will dive into the principles of Aloha and shared cultural values, intending to become cross-cultural community organizers with a strong sense of self-identity and place.
