  • ITH Scholarship

  • The Austrian Development Cooperation offers about 30 scholarships for ADC priority countries (for details refer to the “admission and fees” section of our website: www.ith-salzburg.at).

    To be considered for a scholarship, your application must be submitted exclusively online to the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in Salzburg, Austria, no later than January 1st, 2026. Applications sent via postal service or email will not be accepted.

  • General Requirements

  • The following countries are eligible to apply for the ITH Scholarship, provided they meet all requirements. The list is based on the DAC List of ODA Recipients Link:

    • The DAC List includes countries and territories eligible to receive Official Development Assistance (ODA).
    • Eligible countries are categorized as follows:
      • Low- and middle-income countries according to Gross National Income (GNI) per capita (World Bank), excluding:
        • Former G8 members
        • Current EU member states
        • Countries with a confirmed EU accession date
      • Countries defined by the United Nations (UN) as Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

    Applicants from these countries must fulfill all scholarship criteria to be considered.

  • Please be aware that the application form consists of a total of 7 pages and that you will be asked to upload the following documents.

    ✓ Foto (recent passport photo)

    ✓ Passport (valid at least until August 31st 2026)

    ✓ Birth certificate

    ✓ GCE-A`Level certificate or equivalent

    ✓ Other academic certificates, diplomas, vocational training, degrees

    ✓ Transcripts of your diploma, degree, etc.

    ✓ Curriculum Vitae

    ✓ Proof of Occupation of at least one year experience in the hotel or tourism industry

    ✓ Recommendation letter (if possible from your present employer)

    ✓ TOEFL IBT (score: min. 72-94 points) or TOEIFL ITP level 1 (minimum 543 points) or TOEIC (minimum 785 in reading & writing, 160 in speaking and 150 in writing) or IELTS (score: min. 5.5) or Cambridge (minimum FCE) or Duolingo English Test (min. 100-125 points) or you have verifiably completed your secondary or higher education in English (certificate or written confirmation by the educational institute).

    Why are you applying for this course and what are your expectations?
    Why have you chosen Hotel/Tourism management and Teacher Training/Entrepreneurship?
    What are your professional plans after your return and how will you use the knowledge gained at ITH.

  • Course Selection

    In addition to the GENERAL MODULE select one of the professional modules and one of the electives which are listed below. Failure to do so results in the rejection of your application. Please note that your choice is binding:
  • General Module

    Teaching at ITH is structured into a series of modules. All students begin with the General Module, which provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles of Management, Business Administration, and the use of modern software applications.


    Professional Modules

    In addition to the General Module, students must select a specialization module in either Hospitality Management or Tourism Management.

     
    Hospitality Management

    The Hospitality Management module delivers training and education in state-of-the-art facilities, including kitchens, bars, and restaurants. Practical experience is combined with instruction on the latest operational theories and emerging trends in the hospitality industry.
    Subjects covered include Food & Beverage Management, Front Office Management, and Hotel Marketing.

    Tourism Management

    The Tourism Management module equips students with cutting-edge knowledge for careers in the tourism industry, with a particular focus on Travel Management.
    This module emphasizes Destination and Tourism Management and provides hands-on skills for managing tour operators and travel agencies. Training includes real-time experience with industry-standard online booking systems, preparing students for practical application in the field.

  • Elective Modules

    In addition to the core curriculum, students have the opportunity to select an elective module in either Teacher Training or Entrepreneurship.

    Teacher Training

    The Teacher Training module is ideal for students with a background in education or those who anticipate taking on roles in training or supervising staff.
    This module explores modern trends in teaching and training, including eLearning, classroom management, and contemporary instructional methodologies. Participants will enhance their communication and presentation skills and gain practical insights into teaching techniques and didactics.

     

    Entrepreneurship

    The Entrepreneurship module offers students the opportunity to develop and refine their own business ideas.
    Professional guidance is provided in areas such as Marketing, Finance, and Business Development, enabling students to create a comprehensive business plan. Both elective modules include mentorship from ITH faculty or external professionals, ensuring expert support throughout the process.

  • If your native language is not English, you are required to provide an internationally recognized certificate proving proficiency in English at level B2 or higher. Accepted qualifications include:

    • TOEFL IBT score: min. 72-94 points

    • TOEIFL ITP level 1 minimum 543 points

    • TOEIC minimum 785 in reading & writing, 160 in speaking and 150 in writing

    • IELTS score: min. 5.5

    • Cambridge: minimum FCE

    • Duolingo: min. 100-125 points 

    Alternatively, if your secondary education was conducted in English, you may submit a written confirmation from your school or university, stating the name of the institution and the number of years you were taught in English. If your school certificate or university transcript clearly indicates that English was the language of instruction, this will also be accepted as proof of language proficiency. If English is the official language, or one of the official languages, of the country, no further proof of language proficiency is required.

    I understand that if my proficiency in English is deemed insufficient, the Institute reserves the right to expel me from the program.

     

    I acknowledge that if I am awarded a scholarship, I am required to pay a total amount of EUR 1,500 for accommodation and deposit by April 2026. Failure to make this payment may result in my study place being offered to another applicant.

     

    I understand that providing false information in my application for admission may result in the revocation of my admission to the Institute. In such a case, I accept full responsibility for any expenses incurred.

     

    I am aware that, if admitted to the program, I must apply for a residence permit and visa. I understand that this process may involve additional travel and other costs, particularly if the Austrian embassy responsible for my application is located in a country other than my own. I accept full responsibility for these costs and understand that they will not be reimbursed.

     

    I recognize that the scholarship is part of a development program, and I hereby commit to returning to my home country to contribute to the sustainable development of tourism in my country.

     

    I confirm my willingness to comply with Austrian laws and regulations in all matters.
