Thank you for your interset in a dog retired from our program. As breeders we want the best for every pet in our care! Sometimes keeping a dog back can be selfish if we know that another home with "less going on" can give them more attention, camping and beach trips!
Retired can mean many things. Maybe they were a momma or daddy to puppies here and their time of doing this is over and they would rather live the life outside of a breeder setting. Maybe they are older puppies that we decided didnt grow up to be a better version of their parents (this should always a breeders goal), or maybe they didnt pass the required health testing of their breed.
Breeders often are shunned for retiring their dogs and the general public labels them as "using" these dogs till they are of no value. This is just not true. I bawl ugly tears when I let these dogs go, I have poured everything into each of them. "If you love something let it go." espically if you are not the best option for that dog. We cannot keep 5 senior pets, 3-4 breeders, and 2-3 puppies at all times. Logically its just too much. No dog would get all the attention they deserve.
This is where approved and vetted applicants come in! They are screened and when the breeder releases their dog to you, you are what they believe a better home then they can provide ALWAYS.
Price is not free. Price is not the same for every dog. Our retired dogs often range between $2500-$4000. Factors of health, age, behavoral, training all play into pricing.
