About the Project
Red Hook Art Project (RHAP) is seeking submissions from community artists for our public art initiative, Power, Privilege, and Identity. This project invites artists to contribute finished works exploring personal and collective interpretations of these themes. Selected artworks will be printed on vinyl and prominently displayed as part of a large-scale outdoor exhibit at Coffey Park, creating a vibrant and thought-provoking showcase for the Red Hook community and beyond.
Who Can Apply?
This open call is for community-based artists working in any medium, including:
● Visual artists (painting, drawing, photography, digital art, mixed media)
● Artists with strong ties to Red Hook, Brooklyn, or those whose work engages with themes of identity, social justice, and representation.
Theme
We encourage artists to reflect on what Power, Privilege, and Identity mean to them, exploring their manifestations in places, objects, or individuals that hold personal or cultural significance. Submissions should challenge stereotypes, foster empathy, and celebrate the unique perspectives of the Red Hook community.
Submission Guidelines
● Artwork should be completed, ready for submission, and suitable for large-scale printing.
● Files must be submitted in high-resolution digital format (JPEG, PNG, or PDF, 300 DPI minimum).
● Include a brief artist statement (200 words max) explaining how your piece relates to the theme.
● Up to three pieces per artist may be submitted for consideration.

● Notification of Selection: May 20, 2025
● Exhibit Launch: June 2025
What’s Provided:
● Selected works will be professionally printed on vinyl and installed at Coffey Park.
● Artists will receive public recognition for their contributions in the exhibit and promotional materials.
