Character and temperament: A rescue dog may have experienced an unfortunate history of one or more of the following: neglect, abuse, loneliness, distrust, hunger, etc. They most definitely experienced abandonment and the stress of transport from Oklahoma and the stress of transition. An adjustment period of multiple days and sometimes weeks should be expected but will only happen in some instances. Most dogs are so happy to be home that they adjust very quickly. So it is something to prepare for and consider, but not necessarily something that will happen. Our dogs also receive a lot of love and attention in their foster homes in Oklahoma so they have already had positive experiences to counter any negative experiences they may have had in their past lives. We determine their character and temperament based on the behavior they display in their foster home. Please keep in mind that they are sentient beings and that behavior may change/be different in your home than it was in the foster home. We cannot guarantee that a dog will behave exactly the same way as they did in their foster home once placed in a new situation, just like humans may change behavior when they transition to new situations and environments. Any known behavioral issues are disclosed in the pet's individual profile. In either case, our rescued pets are loving and deserving of love. We truly want our pets in homes that are a perfect fit for them and their new family and this is the reason for asking many detailed questions.

Placement: Submission of this application does not guarantee placement of the dog in your home. All pets are available for adoption by an approved adopter up until the adoption fee is paid. Applicants must agree to a home visit if asked for one and adhere to the follow up requirements of sending pictures upon request and not rehoming their pet or surrendering them to a shelter. You will receive their medical records once you have the pet and the adoption fee is paid/the transporter will have the records when you receive your pet. If you have any concerns about the health or temperament of the dog or cat you are adopting, they must be voiced at the time of placement. All of our pets must be returned to us AT ANY POINT IN THEIR LIVES should you no longer be able to or want to care for them. They cannot be euthanized for non-medical reasons, surrendered to a shelter, or rehomed.
