Our Community Engagement Team

Our Community Engagement Coordinator works part-time hours 3 days a week.

An important part of our role in community is to promote headspace services to young people, parents/carers, schools and organisations. We are keen to do this by collaborating with education providers, services, and community groups based on the Sunshine Coast by offering presentations about headspace services, and participating and partnering on activities/events/something cool!

Our priority groups include young men, First Nations, experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness, experiencing alcohol & other drug issues, and LGBTIQAP+ young people. Requests for community engagement and participation will be prioritised in relation to these groups.

Looking for mental health education?

Our Community Engagement team is not able to provide presentations or workshops on mental health. Click here for info on evidence-based, clinical-led programs, and other offerings specifically developed for schools that may be able to service your request.

How can we work together?

Our key community engagement focus is to promote headspace Caloundra services and share about how headspace can help, the importance of getting help early and how to refer/access our services.

Learn about headspace presentation

We can come out and present to students / parents & carers / educators and staff about headspace Caloundra services.

Our presentations have a focus on building young people's understanding of headspace services and their capacity to seek help early. Presentations are approximately 1 hour and touch on the below topics:

What is headspace and where are we located

Why would you come to headspace

What programs/services we offer and what support looks like

Groups/programs we have available at our centres

Our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and how to get involved

How to reach out if you want support

We may also have the opportunity to bring along a young person from our YAC or with lived expereince of mental health challenges to share their personal journey with headspace.

headspace attending your event

If your service/agency/school is planning an event, conference, EXPO or activity that has a youth mental health and wellbeing focus, we can attend as headspace representatives to join in and support your activities. We can also host a headspace stall, providing opportunities for community members, services & young people to interact with us. Our stall can include resources about headspace services, other local or national youth mental health resources and merchandise to give away.

We encourage creativity and fun ways we can create meaningful engagement with young people!

We work closely with stakeholders to plan and deliver impactful projects and programs that respond to the unique needs of young people in our community.

Community Engagement Request Form

Our community team works Monday to Wednesday between 8am and 5pm. At our discretion, we can consider requests for major events/activities outside of these days if it meets our criteria or if other headspace team members have capacity. We receive a high volume of requests and whilst we wish we could say yes to every event, we need to prioritise based on our availability and priority areas.
