Children Write: Children's Rights Writing & Expression Competition

The Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children (CCRC) is a network of Canadian organizations and individuals who promote respect for the rights of children. Our third annual writing and expression competition is a chance for children and young people to engage with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and why children should learn about their rights. Background:

Under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), countries (including Canada) promise to protect children’s rights. Every child in Canada has these rights. They’re equally important. They’re connected, and they can’t be taken away! For example, Article 3 says all adults need to think about how their decisions will affect children, and Article 12 says all children have the right to give their opinion on issues that affect them, and that adults need to listen to them and take them seriously.

Categories
There are four categories; 1) Ages: 7-10; 2) Ages: 11-14; 3) Ages: 15-17 or 4) Group category that must be submitted with a teacher

Prize
Prize money $100 per category and the possibility of publishing the winning submissions.

Deadline
The contest is open from Nov. 20, 2024 to March 20, 2025
