    Before you apply, please read the eligibility criteria below: 

    Incubator Eligibility

    New England-based impact: We select ventures that make a meaningful impact in Rhode Island and the surrounding New England region. While many of our ventures may already operate or create change globally, their work must also demonstrate a direct benefit to our local communities.

    Social Impact Potential: We prioritize ventures with strong potential to create meaningful, lasting change. We also prioritize originality and scalability.

    Ability to attend in-person classes: We require in-person attendance at our weekly classes Wednesdays 9:30-12:30pm from March 11th- June 10th.

    Experience:

    • Clear vision for your venture’s social impact
    • Ability to define the core problem you aim to solve
    • Basic understanding of your target customer and operating landscape
    • Minimum viable product, service, or offering

     

    Accelerator Eligibility

    Ability to attend in-person classes: We require in-person attendance at our weekly classes Tuesdays 3-5:30pm from March 10th - May 26th.

    Social Impact Potential: Each venture should offer a novel, distinctive solution to a social problem.

    Experience: Applicants should have experience running their venture, know their target audience, have conducted customer discovery and landscape research, and understand the early challenges of growth. We prioritize originality and scalability.

  • About Your Venture

    At SEG, we use the term ‘ventures’ to include entrepreneurs,For profit businesses, co-ops, nonprofits, etc.
  • At SEG, we use the following terms to describe a venture's stages:

    1. Ideation: Brainstorming innovative ideas, refining concepts, and shaping the foundation for a social enterprise.
    2. Pre-Launch / Planning: Transition from ideation to strategic planning, refining business models, and preparing for the venture's launch.
    3. Start-up: Actual launch of the social enterprise, building initial traction, securing first customers, and refining operational processes.
    4. Early Growth / Traction: Increased demand, gaining market traction, and demonstrating viability through scaling operations and forming key partnerships.
    5. Scaling and Expansion: Strategic scaling, entering new markets, and diversifying products or services to amplify impact on a broader scale.

  • SEG works with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to provide additional benefits to program participants who qualify for SNAP.
