    EOPS Spring 2025 APPLICATION PERIOD

    January 27, 2025 - April 18, 2025

    Please review the EOPs program eligibility before completing this application. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    1.      California resident or AB540 eligible

    3.      Enrolled in 12 units or more at time of application* (enrolled in at least 9 units for             CARE/NextUP) *DSPS students are exempt but must submit verification from the               DSPS office.

     NEW EOPS STUDENT ORIENTATIONS & CONTINUING STUDENT WORKSHOPS WILL BEGIN IN AUGUST. ORIENTATION/WORKSHOP ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ELIGIBLE STUDENTS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A BOOK GRANT.

    Thank you for your interest in Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) at Los Angeles Southwest College. EOPS is a statewide program that strives to provide services that are "...over, above and in addition to..." other services offered at Los Angeles Southwest College as well as community colleges throughout the state of California to students who are affected by social, economic, educational or language disadvantages. 

    EOPS offers a variety of support programs and services to eligible community college students, which include:

    Academic and personal counseling
    Priority registration
    Supplemental tutoring
    Supplemental book assistance

    If you are eligible for CARE, you will need to provide the following:

    1. Student's Notice of Action (verifying Cash Aid)
    2. Student's CA ID or Driver's License
    3. Child's/ren's/Grandchild's/ren's/Guardian's Birth Certificate(s)
    4. Student's signed Social Security Card
    5. Student's EBT card 

    *CARE students receive many EOPS benefits, plus CARE Grant (financial assistance), food, gas and Target gift cards (based on availability and student eligibility).

    If you're eligible for NextUP (CAYFES), you will need to provide the following:

    • Be enrolled in at least 9 units.
    • Are a current or former foster youth in California whose dependency was established or continued on or after their 13th birthday.
    • Provide a Ward of the Court Verification Letter (Foster Verification Letter)
    • Be under the age of 26

    *If you are eligible for NextUp(CAYFES), you may be eligible to receive the following: NextUp unmet need grants, Vendor E-gift Cards, housing, mental health referrals, books and supplies grants, informative workshops, and much more.
