  • Application Terms and Agreements

    Applicants must be female, residents of Texas, plan to attend an accredited Texas college or university or an accredited online college or university, and have completed at least 30 semester hours of credit as of 12/31/2025 at an accredited college or university. Applicants must be enrolled to take 6 or more credits this semester and have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must enroll forat least 6 credit hours next semester. Scholarship awards are limited to cover only tuition, fees, and books, and any funds awarded will be added to your student account at the college. Amounts awarded to successful candidates are at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.


    By applying, you are ensuring that all information you have provided is true and correct to the best of your knowledge.

    • Responses to all questions are complete and truthful.
    • Cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or higher.
    • Completed coursework of 30 credit hours or more as of December 31, 2025. Advance Placement courses taken in high school are acceptable, but must provide a record of scores for cumulative GPA.
    • Most recent college and/or university transcript shows record of academic progress. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Evidence of altered transcripts will immediately disqualify the application.
    • Completed essay responses are original work (no ChatGPT or AI), current, and meet minimum and maximum word limits. Past scholarship recipients must update their essays.
    • Essay responses are free of grammar and spelling errors. Applicants may type directly or paste unformatted essay responses into the question text area.
    • Required documents are scanned or converted to PDF files and submitted with the application.
    • Grounds for disqualification include not meeting eligibility requirements, incomplete application, and misleading responses or dishonesty.
    • Applicants who have served on the FHPW or Educational Foundation Boards or FHPW-paid vendors in the past year will not be eligible this year. Current Educational Foundation Board members' immediate family members are not eligible.
    • Qualifying applications must be submitted and received by the deadline: February 28, 2026. It is important to plan ahead for issues that may delay your submission; regardless of reason, late submissions will not be accepted.

    Applicants will be notified via email on or before May 1, 2026, as to whether they have been selected.

  • What you will need before completing and submitting the application:

     Student information:

    1.  Educational Institution Financial Office mailing address and phone number and Student ID Number. 

    2. Leadership Roles and Recognition within the last three years. 

    3. Email and phone number for those writing your letters of recommendation. Academic references preferred. 

    4. Statement of your goals in 200 words or less. 

    5. Essay in 400 words or less answering the following question: 

          What experiences have helped you determine your goals? 

    6. Biographical Sketch of 100 words or less describing academic status and goals for the Gala program.

    7. Official or unofficial copy of recent college or university transcripts (PDF file).

    8. Two signed Letters of Recommendation (E-signatures acceptable) dated within the last year and on letterhead (PDF file).  

    9. Upload your high-resolution (300 dpi or higher) headshot/photo to be used in the Gala program. 

    10. Yes/No check-mark on a photo release form. 

    It is important to note that essays are heavily weighted and play a large part in the evaluation process. Requesting letters of recommendation early is highly recommended. All form fields must be completed and required documents uploaded for scholarship award consideration. Please allow sufficient time to complete and submit a qualifying application on or before February 28, 2026.     Below are the three essay questions the Scholarship Committee has chosen. Carefully present a clear and compelling story, as essays will be judged on content and grammar. Please type or paste unformatted text of your responses in the designated text boxes. Previously submitted essays to the FHPW Educational Foundation will not be evaluated.

  • PHOTO RELEASE CONSENT FORM 

    If you are the recipient of the FHPW EF scholarship, we would like to use your bio and image in our Women of Excellence Gala program and to raise funds for our scholarship program. If you consent, please initial below. 

    I hereby give the Federation of Houston Professional Women's Educational Foundation my consent to use my photographs as needed. The purposes may include, but are not limited to, the Federation of Houston Professional Women campaign material; its press releases; slide shows; website; social media; collateral pieces, and any other FHPW or FHPWEF publications. I understand if I wish to revoke this authorization it will become effective on the day the FHPW EF receives written revocation.

    Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the FHPW Women of Excellence Gala in September of 2026. The exact date and location of the Gala will be sent to those award winners in 2026.

    Scholarship recipients receive one complimentary ticket. Additional tickets for family and guests are available for purchase at www.fhpw.org. If selected, please indicate attendance.
