  • Answers:
These questions will bring on many answers and may be all over the place. You may uncover something that someone has been trying to talk about and manage in their life but have not been able to articulate or explain it in a way they feel understood. You may want to write some of the questions down and revisit them at a later time. Be sure to revisit the questions! Ask yourself, “Am I modeling this lesson well? Am I showing respect? Am I accepting the things I can’t change”? If you are going to take the time to lead, Lead Well!

    You are amazing!

    Words of Encouragement:

    • Never let your negative or hurtful circumstances define you.
    • You were placed in this position to serve others! Do it with the highest integrity!

    You Got This!

    Optional Assignment/Homework:
Research one hobby, career or skill that interests you. Write a short summary of the advantages and disadvantages to share with your Staff or group. How do you see yourself taking on that sport or new skill? What do you need to do in order to realize your goals and dreams? Who do you need to partner with to
make it happen? Being humble, vulnerable and showing you are personally growing are important details when leading

What are you going to put your mind to so you can accomplish your goals and rise to the challenge? Take on new challenges every day. Surround yourself with people that will build you up.

    YOU CAN DO THIS!

    Be Positive!

  • Professional Suggestions to be considered:

    1) All supervisors should start at the bottom level or at minimum, know what it is like. Walk in the DSP 's shoes to know where they are coming from and their struggles.
    2) Get to personally know the DSP's. Know if they have a family, their interests, hobbies, and what they enjoy doing on their time off. This will help with pairing up the right DSP with the individual.
    3) Know your individuals so you can place the best DSP to complement and help the individual grow and succeed. In return, this will make the individual and the DSP happier, have less issues, less UI and MUI’s
    4) Have the supervisor train the DSP’s so everyone gets the same training and information and knows the clear expectations of their job.
    5) Supervisors must be willing to have clear and open communication with the DSP’s at all times. If the DSP’s are afraid they will get fired or in trouble every time there is a mistake, they most likely will not share very much with you!
    6) Listen, Listen, Listen and then take time to Listen some more!!
    7) Do what you say you are going to do!
    8) Have open honest communication with chances to ask questions and communicate their feelings as well as your own. Incorporate weekly, open door, 1 on 1’s so people see you are investing into the lives of your coworkers.
    9) Introduce DSP’s to families of the individuals as well as the individuals and give them a chance to talk and ask questions.
    10) Provide all DSP’s a helpline or someone to call when they are struggling. This will help with burnout, turnover of employees and happiness of our individuals.

Great Job! We will see you in the next video!
