While we do our best to assign students to one of their choices, we also match according to skills, previous experiences, and learning goals as presented in application material. You may provide such information in the Statement of Purpose section of this application.   • File Uploads

    Files must be uploaded in .pdf format. It is preferable to have all files uploaded with the application. Transcripts and resumes can be uploaded later via the edit link in the confirmation email. However, the personal statement is required to submit an application.

  • Statement of Purpose

    Please tell us what you think you would gain from a mentored SOAR-REEU summer research experience. Note interests and career goals, any previous programs or research programs or projects in which you have participated in. Be as inclusive as possible. State whether you would want to continue to work in a research area in which you have had prior experience or would prefer to pursue a new area of interest. Please use this statement to highlight strengths, and challenges you have faced. Challenges that have posed barriers to your academic success are of particular interest to the selection committee.

  • Letters of Recommendation

    Only one letter is required. However, you may submit up to two. Recommendations should come from someone you have had as an instructor, professor, or advisor and can speak to your ability/potential as a student/researcher. Entering an email address below will send a request and upload the link to the listed person. If you prefer to send the link personally, leave the email field blank and send the recommendation link that will be included in the confirmation email you receive after submitting this form. Please confirm with your Recommenders that they have received the request.
