This garden only uses pest- and weed-control methods approved for organic gardens. Any chemicals brought into the garden must be on the OMRI list. http://www.omri.org/omri-lists. Each gardener is encouraged to develop a relationship with a garden buddy. Garden buddies work together to support each other in watering, harvesting, and spotting issues that can affect the well-being of the plot and garden. Each plot will be labeled with a sign containing the plot owners name on the front and their phone number or best method of contact. If you see an issue with another plot, please call the gardener directly to inform them of the problem. Keep garden weeded and harvested during all growing seasons. If you cannot maintain your garden, arrange assistance from another plot owner or your garden buddy. Aggressive plants such as mint, oregano, squash, etc. must be kept under control as to not encroach on your neighbor's plot or common areas like walkways. Plot owners are expected to volunteer 2 hours per month from February through November to maintain common areas. Log in time spent in the notebook in the building near the garden. Missed time in any given month must be made up in future months. Commonly shared tasks include, maintaining common areas with mulching and weeding; cleaning sheds; maintaining pollinator gardens, orchard, and other related farm/gardening tasks, etc. Official Workdays may start with a brief meeting designed to provide gardeners with timely information on planning, planting, growing, harvesting, pests, etc. or a new gardener's introduction and Welcome to the Catawba Trail Farm Community Garden. If you must vacate your plot for the season, please notify Garden Coordinator ASAP. Plots may be reassigned. Service animals brought to the garden must be leashed and cleaned up after. Be mindful of tall crops. Plant them sparingly to avoid shading neighbors' plots. Please keep gates and doors locked to keep critters and strangers out, especially when alone at the farm. If you did not plant it, do not pick it unless given permission. During times of bounty or when you are unable to harvest, please place white flags on corner of your plot to signal that the bounty may be harvested for donation to a food bank, someone in need or other charity. Please respect water usage. Every drop is precious so use nozzles (hose) or watering cans. When finished watering, turn off water at hose attachment and pump (with blue handle Readjust, if needed, the automatic watering system lines in your bed after tending your garden. Be mindful when pulling hoses that they do not damage neighbors' beds. Always supervise your children. Refrain from using foul language. Consuming alcohol and smoking are prohibited. Check the message boards in the garden for news. Questions? Or need more information, please contact: Garden Coordinator at info@ucan.today.
In the spirit of community gardening, I agree to the guidelines as stated herein and to volunteer 2 hours per month. If I cannot work in a particular month, I will make the time up in another month.
I agree to being warned twice about any violations before my plot rental is cancelled and reassigned. Thank you for your understanding and participation.
