Grant Criteria

Non-profit is a Christian organization committed to serving those in spiritual and physical need and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.Non-profit must have a 501(c)(3) IRS Tax Exempt Status for two years prior to the time of the application. This two-year period begins with the date of the IRS approval letter.Non-profit may not be a church.Grant request amount must not exceed half of non-profit’s current operating budget.Any use of grant money for advertising, marketing and salaries in total cannot exceed 20% of the grant amount being requested.Grant request must NOT include ongoing operating expenses, rent, endowments, ongoing capital campaign funding, or debt retirement. Grant must cover the project to completion, except when funds are already ensured.Past grant recipients may apply again after three years. 2022 grant recipients may apply again in December 2025 for the 2026 grant year.Non-profit must be a Birmingham-based organization, within a 50-mile radius of the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Clearly state how the grant monies will be used. Include a detailed list of items and services to be purchased and the actual cost for each item or service. The total amount must show how all of the grant amount of $50,000, $75,000 or $100,000 will be used. The amount of the grant requested cannot exceed half of your current operating budget.
