  • If you would like to become a volunteer driver, you will be required to:

    • Present a valid Australian driver licence
    • Declare any medical conditions, restrictions or endorsements that apply
    • Complete a driver statutory declaration

  • You will receive an invitation email from our compliance partner, PharmacyID, to complete your police check. 

  • If you already have a valid Working with Children Check, providing your card number will allow us to expedite your registration.

    We will verify your details with Service Victoria.

  • Your Volunteering Agreement

    • How we will support you 
    • St Vincent de Paul Society respects its volunteers and will provide you with:

      • a written Volunteer Role Description so that you can identify the tasks you are authorised to perform as a volunteer

       • training, including:

      • induction, orientation, Work Health & Safety, risk management and any training necessary for the volunteer role
      • training in the use of equipment and resources and knowledge and familiarisation with other procedures relevant to your voluntary role

      • a safe and productive environment free from discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment and bullying.

       • a People Leader, so that you can ask questions and get feedback and to discuss any innovative or creative ideas

      • reimbursement for your reasonable expenses (only with prior approval of your People Leader) so you are not out-of-pocket

      • public liability, professional indemnity and personal accident insurance to cover you for the volunteer duties you are authorised to perform (insurance covers persons aged between 12 and 100 years of age)

    • Your commitment as a volunteer 
    • We ask that you: 

      • support St Vincent de Paul Society’s values which underpin how we go about our work, treat  and respect each other

      • be open and honest in your dealings with us and let us know if we can improve our programs and the support that you receive

      • speak courteously to everyone you may interact with

      • always understand the importance of confidentiality and act in accordance with St Vincent De Paul Society’s policies dealing with private information

      • participate in orientation, induction and relevant training programs

      • operate under the direction of a nominated supervisor and follow reasonable directions and instructions

      • understand and comply with St Vincent De Paul Society‘s policies and procedures;  use St Vincent de Paul Society equipment or resources following manufacturer’s directions and return it when you have finished using these.

      • upon resignation/retirement return any identification badges or personal protective equipment (aprons, shirts, hi-vis vests, etc.), as these remain the property of St Vincent de Paul Society.

      • notify your supervisor of any hazardous situation that may pose a risk to you or others and report any accidents or incidents relating to staff, volunteers, clients, plant or equipment

      • let us know if you wish to change the nature of your contribution (e.g. hours, role), including roster absences

      • if there is anything in the Volunteer Role Description that you cannot / do not want to do, please let us know. This includes any relevant pre-existing illnesses or injuries. This will enable us to support you better with your role
