The Gothia Cup (12th - 19th July 2026)
Gothia Cup is the world’s largest and most international youth football tournament. Gothia cup runs in July each year, around 1800 teams from 88 nations take part with over 4500 games being played across 110 pitches. Ex professional players have participated in the past including; Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Xabi Alonso , Alan Shearer and Andrea Pirlo plus many more.
Midlands Independant School Squad
Players are nominated by their Director of Sport to attend the trials. Players from over 45 different independant schools trial to be part of our squads. If selected, players will have a 2 day training camp prior to heading to Sweden along with 2 warm up matches with 1 being against an academy team e.g Leicester city / Derby county and then 1 against a grassroots side.
The tournament is held in Gothenburg, Sweden and the package is for a full 7 days.
The package includes;
- Return Flights

- Transfers when in Sweden

- Full Nike tracksuit , Training top and match kit with surname on the back
- 2 day training camp in the UK prior
- 2 warm up matches prior to the competition
- Opening ceromoney ticket (over 60,000 people for the opening ceromoney!)
- 4 week speed and stamina plan given prior to competition (DPF format)
Parents will be given a talk at the training day to explain in more detail and ask any questions they may have.
Only the strongest players will be selected for the sides as the standard is very high and we want to compete out in Sweden. Last year we managed to get to the semi-finals of the A Plate which was an incredible acheivement ! Signed academy players are allowed to play in the competition but it will be down to the individual clubs to give permission.
