Join us on January 22nd, 2025 for a day of activities with teachers and current students at Baxter.
When: Wednesday, January 22nd, 2024 from 8:25 AM to 12:00 PM.

Where: Baxter Academy, 185 Lancaster Street Portland, ME 04101

What: A day of activities at Baxter Academy hosted by our teachers and guided by current students for prospective students to experience a day at Baxter.

About Transportation

Our yellow school buses will be operating on January 22nd and students can ride in from our various bus stops in Lewiston, Topsham, Yarmouth, Gray, Windham, Gorham, and Scarborough. A bus schedule for this day can be found by clicking here and going to the second page (half-day schedule).

If you wish to use public transportation, our campus is located a few blocks from the Metro PULSE station, which serves as a hub for Southern Maine's public transportation network. Please let us know if you have any questions about how to get here.

Doors open at 7:30 AM and close at 12:30 PM. Parents can pick up or drop off on Lancaster or Elm Street. We ask that parents dropping off or picking up students do so before 8:15 AM and/or after 12:10 PM to give our yellow school buses time to load and unload.

About Our Special Education Program

We will have our Special Education team on site for this event. If your student will need any coordination with that department, please email our Special Education Director Laura Parks at laura.parks@baxter-academy.org before the event.
About Our Lunch Program

Baxter Academy does not have a traditional lunch program or kitchen facilities. The school’s model breaks students out into the community for learning and for open-campus lunch. We also partner with local restaurants to provide meals for our students.

Lunch orders for Visiting Day are open until Friday, January 17th at 1 PM. Meals ordered will be provided at no charge to the family. Students can also bring their own lunches and utilize our refrigerators and microwaves that are available in the Great Room. Select from the options below!

American Mathematics Competition - Level 8

Once Prospective Student Visiting Day has ended, we will be offering the American Mathematics Competition - Level 8 to any interested 8th Grade students who would like the opportunity. The AMC - Level 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute competition designed to promote developing and enhancing problem-solving skills. The exam is offered free of charge. Students who take the exam would stay at Baxter Academy until 2 PM.

Note: Our yellow buses will not be running at this time so students will need a plan for transportation home.
