  • About the Colorado HIMSS Scholarship Program for Fall/Winter 2024/2025:


    The Colorado HIMSS Chapter is committed to supporting the academic development of health information technology professionals in Colorado. We offer scholarship awards to professionals looking to impact their community by furthering their education in health information technology or public health fields.

    • Veteran Impact Scholarship (one available): Colorado HIMSS Scholarship awarded to veteran students pursuing students pursuing a master’s, bachelor's or associate’s degree or a certificate in the field of health information technology, health informatics, biomedical informatics, public health, or related fields (i.e., community college, junior college, university). Award: up to $2,000
    • Community Impact Scholarships (two available): Colorado HIMSS Scholarship awarded to qualified students pursuing a master’s, bachelor's or associate’s degree or a certificate in the field of health information technology, health in formatics, biomedical informatics, public health, or related fields (i.e., community college, junior college, university). Award: up to $1,500

    • National Conference Scholarship (one available): Colorado HIMSS Scholarship awarded to qualified students pursuing a master’s, bachelor's or associate’s degree or a certificate in the field of health information technology, health informatics, biomedical informatics, public health, or related fields (i.e., community college, junior college, university).  This scholarship provides 1 entry to the 2024 HIMSS National Conference in Orlando, FL, airfare and hotel accommodations for travel to the conference. The conference dates are March 3-6, 2025.  Award: up to $2,000

    • Pre-application submission criteria:

      ·  Full-time or part-time student in an aforementioned program

      ·  Physically reside in the Colorado HIMSS region

      ·  Minimum GPA of 3.50

      ·  Current Colorado HIMSS Student Member

      ·  One faculty nomination

    • Post-award submission requirements*:

    ·  Volunteer for at least two Colorado HIMSS events

    ·  Report back and debrief about their community/veteran impact at a Colorado HIMSS sponsored meeting or event.

    Applications will be accepted prior to 11:59 pm MT, Saturday, February 1, 2025. Awardees will be contacted by a Board member on or about Monday, February 10, 2025 and awardees will be announced at a subsequent Colorado HIMSS 2025 event (location, date, and time for that event to be announced at a later date).

  • Scholarship Impact:

    o Community Impact: How will the credential you are pursuing impact your community (or a community you wish to serve) through the lens of health information technology, informatics, or public/population health?

    o Veteran Impact: How will the credential you are pursuing impact the veteran community through the lens of health information technology, informatics, or public/population health? 

    o HIMSS Conference: If selected, how will you use your time at the HIMSS Conference? Think about how the conference might help you with your academic program and your career development.

  • Impact of Health Information Technology on Healthcare:

     

    Choose a vexing problem in healthcare delivery, public/population health, or health equity that might be improved or solved with the implementation of health information technology. Describe your solution and its potential to improve healthcare

    Your application will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.  If the requested information in this survey is not submitted in its entirety or received by the deadline, the application will not be considered.
