4). When you adopt from Heart of Phoenix, you check in monthly (at least) or as requested, for the first year of adoption with current photos untacked and seasonally correct. You also check in the same way yearly (at least) or as requested, for the lifetime on the horse, as long as you remain the adopter. The horses cannot ever be sold or given away. They must always return to Heart of Phoenix if an adopter cannot keep them. Heart of Phoenix retains an adoptive agreement in place with the adopter for the life of the horse. If a horse is returned, an adopter may request a $800 fee refund (regardless of adoption fee paid) once the horse is back with the rescue.Is this something you appreciate and agree to?

5.) Do you have significant turn out time (no less than 6 hours daily) for an adopted horse in an outside setting with at least one herdmate (few exceptions made)?OR WILL you select as boarding facility where this is offered daily?

Our long term experience shows that is vital to a horse's welfare. 6). Is the facility for the horse you are interested in one with well maintained fence without many missing boards or loose wire? Does it have pastures or paddocks free of debris that could cause injury? Is the fence what would be generally called horse safe fence (tightly strung barbed wire on large acreage not in a feeding area can sometimes be allowed) with three sided shelters that are size correct for the equines on site?This applies to your property and a boarding facility, as applicable

Our long term experience shows injury can result too easily with loose fence, uncapped t-posts, barbed wire in feeding areas and so forth. 7). If you own horses, do you horses have any untreated conditions, i.e. untreated laminitis, cushings, Uvietis, heaves, arthritis or other chronic issues?

Right now, we require all adopters to have a treatment plan with a vet involved with all chronic issues with horses, including X-rays/ultrasound for horses with lameness, proper pain management, and a humane plan with your vet for horses with things like equine reoccurate uveitis. Our long term experience shows us that horses receive the best care with this oversight.
