What is a Resilience Hub?
Resilience Hubs are powered by trusted community leaders who provide access to services, programs, resources, and opportunities for residents to implement place-based, community-led strategies that increase individual and collective resilience.
Resilience Hubs are:
- Action oriented and focused on what we can do with what we have through partnerships with one another
- Building pilina to connect the needs of communities with resources
- Led by community, for the community serving as grassroots organizers and social service access points to meet the basic needs of community and increase resilience and disaster preparedness.
Why join a Network?
The Koʻolau Resilience Hubs envision a network that strengthens collaboration and resource sharing within and across communities of Koʻolau, ensuring that we not only navigate disasters effectively, but also thrive in every season of life. We commit to inter-hub collaboration to support effective and open communication, peer-to-peer learning, and resource sharing. We convene regularly to participate in and conduct training and drills to build resilience capabilities alongside evidence-based disaster management practices to activate during emergencies.
As you consider joining the network, we ask for your commitment to:
- Build a team of no less than 5 adult individuals.
- Send at least 1 team member to participate in monthly, virtual Roundtables.
- Participate in quarterly activities and training to reach network goals.
- Identify a minimum of 3 team members to participate in an annual Training Summit.
- Activate as a team to support neighborhoods prior to and following a disaster.
