  • Read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application. Recipients who are chosen for the scholarship will be notified before the end of April 2025.

    We regret that we cannot contact those who are not selected for the scholarship. Applicants may reapply if not selected. 

    Please remember that it is your responsibility to ask for a recommendation letter and have your letter writer submit it to us via email. Applications are not complete and will not be considered without a recommendation. We will not send reminders regarding recommendations.

    Information regarding ethnic origin and race are optional. The information is requested for post-scholarship report generation only and in no way affects your selection. Any of the information collected below will not be given to scholarship selection committee members.

  • Your essay should address all of these questions:

    1.   How are you making a difference in your community?
    2.   Why is making a difference important to you?
    3.   How do your actions support your vision for the future?

    Your essay should be 800 words or less, single-spaced in 12-point font and checked for grammar and spelling.

    At the top left corner of your essay, be sure to include the following information:

    • Your name
    • Your grade level
    • What high school you attend and what town it’s located in
    • Your home mailing address
    • A phone number where you can be reached
    • A working email address

    So Jane Doe's essay file would be called Doe_J_Essay

    Do NOT name it simply "essay" or "scholarship." We need to be able to know it's yours at a glance!

  • Submit a reference from someone who is not a family member. References should submit the following information as a PDF or Word document in an attachment.

    They should email their completed reference in .doc or .pdf format directly to info@graceerlinescholarship.org with the subject line GEM Reference - (Applicant's First and Last Name)

    At the top of the reference, please include the following information:

    1.   Applicant's first and last name
    2.   The reference’s first and last name, mailing address, phone number and email address
    3.   Their relationship to you (teacher, advisor, church member, coach, etc.)
    4.   How long they have known you and in what capacity

    And, your reference should answer the following question: What makes you (the applicant) a girl gone great? Please note that grades and grade point average are not needed for this scholarship. We want to know about the applicant's personality and what they do for their community.

    1. I meet the criteria of the application guidelines.
    2. If awarded the scholarship, I will receive a check made out to me for the amount of the scholarship (varies based on the year). I agree to pay any applicable taxes on the award and agree that it is my sole responsibilty to determine if I owe taxes. The award is a one-time grant. The award may be used for any purpose needed by the applicant and is intended to offset the costs of a college education (tuition, books, supplies, room and board, etc.)
