The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies etc.
The primary purpose of a recertification course is to give participants who are currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) the opportunity to review the course knowledge and skills within a formal course setting to maintain their American Red Cross Lifegaurding (including Deep Water) certification.
The revised course is offered in an online format and includes an optional in-person supplement. In-person test designed to meet New York State Aquatic Director for Children’s Camp Bathing Facility requirements. In person testing with a certified instructor is REQUIRED for certification to be valid in NYS.
